3.7 cm KwK 36 Pzgr. 40 APCR

When did this round become available, was it in service during the BOF ?

Also, What ammo types were carried in the P III's in the BOF ?

It was included in the ammunition production report in April 1940, but the production numbers for the Sprgr, Pzgr, and Pzgr 40 were combined until August 1940, so it's not clear how many rounds were available during the invasion of France.

PzGr. 40 was in service with at least some of the anti-tank battalions of the German Army during the Battle for France. Some were flown in during the campaign, so my assumption would be, that it was not issued from the start of the campaign, but supplied during the campaign as it became available. It was probably not used in large numbers because of this.

Whether the tank formations got any is an open question, I've never seen any confirmation of this.

We know how many rounds were fired by Panzer IIIs during the campaign (692 SprGr (HE), 62923 PzGr (AP), but PzGr. 40 is not recorded. It may have been part of the PzGr. count.
