German Vehicle question
German Vehicle question
Hi everyone.
I have come across two German Vehicles this weekend and have cut a blank trying to progress with any data concerning their specs and numbers produced.
The vehicles are;
The Flak Messtruppkraftwagen (Sd. Kfz. 7/6)
Flakmeßtruppkraftwagen (Kfz. 415)
Can anyone point me in the right direction concerning specs and totals please.
Thanks you/regards
Yan

Re: German Vehicle question
Hi Yan,
here three pics of the Flak Messtruppkraftwagen (Sd. Kfz. 7/6). Sources of the pics: first: Waffen-Arsenal Band 134: "Die mittleren Zugkraftwagen der Wehrmacht 1934 - 1945" by Reinhard Frank; second and third: www.kfzderwehrmacht.de.
The mittlere Flak-Messtruppkraftwagen (Sd. Kfz. 7/6) - a middle A.A. survey party vehicle - was a rare vehicle. Often, a command device 36 (Kommandogerät 36) was towed. These vehicles had mountings for cable drums on the front fenders or instead of the mountings for cable drums there was a mounting for the sparewheel on the left side. All types had a large box at the rear. Source of the information: www.kfzderwehrmacht.de.
Regards
Bert

Re: German Vehicle question
Hi Yan,
now to the other vehicle, the Kfz. 415. This is also a Flakmesstruppkraftwagen – an anti aircraft survey party motor vehicle here on a Büssing-NAG type 500 A. The superstructure was similar to the superstructure of the m. Flakmesstruppkraftwagen (Sd. Kfz. 7/6). A Kommandogerät 36 – command device – was carried on the trailed Sd. Ah. 104. Information and first pic: also www.kfzderwehrmacht.de; second and third pic: expired ebay auctions).

Re: German Vehicle question
Hi Bert, nice to converse with you again.
Great photos by the way. Do you know anymore details about these two vehicles, I cannot find anything about the numbers built or any specs.
Which is strange because German WW2 vehicles are usually well documented.
Thanks again for your imput Bert and I hope to converse with you again.

Re: German Vehicle question
Hi Yan,
surely we will continue our conversation. It´s difficult to find more information, especially about the numbers of the built vehicles. Here two pics of a captured Sd.Kfz. 7/6 and some more information:
The original purpose of this vehicle was to carry and tow the KDO 36 and 40 Range Finders as part of an Anti Aircraft battery (8,8cm), but did find itself in many other rolls. Included is the Carrying case for the range finder head as this was a sensitive piece of equipment so it was taken off the base and carried in a special case for protection that slid down the center of the track on a special rail and pully/winch setup.(source. http://www.panzerconcepts.com/html/sdkfz_7-6.html).
The length: 7,50m, width: 2,45m; and the crew consisted of 13 men.
