Re: German self-propelled AA
Hi Hyus,
Yes, these heavy Einheits-PKWs had 2cm Flak 38 guns, which were capable of any rotation in that mounting. Here two pics and a model of this vehicle. On the pics You can see, that this vehicle was not only in action in Northern Africa used by the Deutsches Afrika Korps. Sorry, but I have no idea how many of these vehicles were made.
Regards
Bert

And there was another version of this vehicle (schwerer Einheits-PKW) with the 2cm Flak 38. Here a pic of this version in Charkov 1943 (source of the pic: "Militärfahrzeuge of the Wehrmacht" by Kurt Rieger and Uwe Feist).

Re: German self-propelled AA
This variant was built already before the war (initially equipped with 2 cm Flak 30), it was apparently intended to protect self propelled wheeled 8,8 cm Flak guns. It lwas already in service in September 1939.

Hi Grzesio,
here a good pic of this vehicle (source: www.kfzderwehrmacht.de) and the exact confirmation of Your reply. Here the text to the pic:
"The Selbstfahrlafette auf Einheitsfahrgestell II für s. Pkw. mit 2cm Flak – a self propelled 2cm A. A. gun – was a special variant of the Luftwaffe. The shown vehicle belonged to 1. Bataillon of Flak Regiment 42 (mot. S.). These vehicles were used to protect the 8.8cm Flak SPG’s on VOMAG chassis against strafers."

By the way...
download/file.php?id=469871&mode=view
This seems to be the 2 cm Fla-MG 30, i.e. a ground variant of the naval 2 cm MG C/30.

Hi Bert,
sorry but I cannot answer your question, as I do not know about softskins.
I've got some more pictures of the same car, which is called a Morris and a
Bedford Umbauwagen, but I do not know which is right.

Armin
