Hi Max
that's what it is in my opinion. I do not have more information about it, but
some more pictures, which show the Ausf. B and C (in my 2nd post) of the SPW.
Regards
Armin

Hi Armin,
First off, thanks very much for being so generous in sharing your photo archives. I'm kind of overwhelmed since I had never seen this variant before (or even referenced) so thought it might be a one-off field conversion. Obviously there were more than a few out there. I assume they may have seen only limited service, as with the 250/11, due to the dwindling availability of tungsten required in the production of the SPzB ammo. But that is just a theory.

Hello Armin,
Well said. That is the raison d'etre of this Forum, is it not?

wasn't there also non-Tungsten ammo for those guns? they proved to be hardly effective againts T-34 and larger but could still be useful against trucks or other lightly armored stuff. I believe many AT-Rifles were also relegated to take out other targets as their usefulness vs tanks was gone.

Hi Denniss,
Fair enough, but wasn't that the main reason the 250/11 ceased production by 1944? Wouldn't losing that extra capability render them rather redundant and cause an extra strain on an already overcomplicated logistics/replenishment system?

Denniss, according to Hogg "German Artilleryof WW2" there was an HE round which given that it was only the 21mm calibre was probably as much use as a chocolate fire guard.

Hi Alan,
Do you happen to write for Ricky Gervais in your spare time?
Cheers,
