Look like both officers above are Luftwaffe...
At least the first seem to wear a Luftwaffe cockade on his cap band.
Not a WH or a SS for sure given its shape...Why should a Luftwaffe officer be in Villiers Bocage that day? :?

The photos were not taken 'the same day' (June 13th). They were taken at least the day after, maybe even a day or two later.
Fred just got this murky shot of a 101 Tiger. Not a new number so it shoud be easy for you to match it to..............?

NEW SHOT

Post by Bayerlein spirit » 20 Jul 2003, 09:27

New shot..

First time I see this view.... Thanks...So, have you more information about? Villers Bocage, Tracy, Cahagne? Same quality as Didier Lodieu Tiger, may be same photograph?
Find here your Tiger view with hightlight, more contrast....
The Balkenkreuz well visible...Spare track on the turret side..
The white mark on the turret seems to me the first number when I juxtapose other 101 SS turret.

PS : I beleive you search pictures of Panzer Brigade 112 at Dompaire?
I Found in Library archive 4 shots of them ( 312 (Railway station at Saint-Dié 04/09 19 44), 332, IN2 (Dompaire 12/13 09 44 ) Etc..

Yes i am with you,
i remember when i posted this image from my video archive some of experts on topic didn't accept its origin of Villers-Bocage.

Fred it is 304. The first white number looks like a 0 but it is a 3, the 0 is just visble in your cleaned up version.
Sorry I have to use the thumbnails from John's site but have not got the originals to hand.

If you haven't ideas about exact location, we can see a wall and building behind Tiger for the third picture, building like cemetery... maybe 1945-46-47-48 photo when Canadian or English cimetery was created ...So There is another photo of this Tiger taken much earlier empty of building...

Maybe Bretteville Cintheaux cemetery, maybe I am wrong about ... like more often than not !

This is Cintheaux. You could be right. Maybe the connecting columns were added later.

Hey, Bayerlein spirit,
your turret picture is a reflection of the original pic. The commander's cupola has to be on the other side of the turret. S oyou can't compare those two pics.

I too wondered why he did that but eventualy I realised it was so the turrets were in the same position and you could see where the numbers started and ended.

Cintheaux cemetery Fred, not quite the same but has it been altered over the years. It is actualy called Bretteville-sur-Laiz cemetery.
