The Kettenkrad (Sd.Kfz. 2)(or, more correctly, Kettenkraftrad - tracked motorcycle) was a semi-tracked light tractor and personel carrier. You can find all you'll need to know here: http://www.kettenkrad.de/

The Maultier (muel) (Sd.Kfz. 3 and Sd.Kfz. 4) was a 3½ ton half-tracked truck - and it really was a truck, not a tractor, and looked like that (in case of the Sd.Kfz. 3).
The Sd.Kfz. 4 was a 7.1 ton re-build armoured model, that carried various rocket gears - such as a Nebelwerfer and Stalin Orcan-like rocket launcher.

Michael :

This vehicle was on all fronts till May of 45 and was a the common workhouse for all land branches hauling a variety of equipment and also used for light recon duties. You have seen this vehicle in pics of the Afrika Korp in Tunisia yes ?

The WWII reenacting unit I am in has an original Maultier. Ours is a cross between a Bren Carrier and a Ford Truck. It is a fantastic little vehicle, capable of carrying around 20 soldiers over all sorts of terrain. Pictures of it can be found on http://www.25panzergrendiv.com/main_fol ... r.page.htm

Michael,

I am a member of MAPS (Military Aircraft Preservation Society) here in Ohio. We are receiving a Kettengrad as part of a donation from a friend of the museum.

As soon as it arrives, I'll post some photos.
