SdKfz.251/5
Hello!
According to the KTB Pz.Art.Rgt.103 received 17 SdKfz.251/5 in Mai 1943.
What I did not know until know is that they called it "ZIEGE".
I was not able to find a foto or drawing of the vehicle. Anyone can point me to the right direction?
Christoph

thanks
Hello!
I always try to make my own researches before I post here!
But I didn´t find a (good) foto of the vehicle. The foto you sent is a Pionier-vehicle and I doubt that a Pz.Art.Rgt. used this version for observation duty. I know that it had the 30Watt (FuG8?) transmitter which was very good according to the regiment and the FuG4.
thanks,
Christoph

Pionier version
What did Pz.Art.Rgt.103 do with 17 of them. The author writes that it was a kind of command vehicle with the two radios I mentioned before. Wasn´t there a "sub-version"?

typo..
Hi!
Yes, I think it is a typo. Probably they mean 250/5 which was a command/observation vehicle.

Sd-251/5
I agree with the tipographic error in the book, but I think that the author could write Sd-251/15 (Mittlerer Lichtauswertepanzerwagen) an artillery observation vehicle with flash spotting equipment.

Sd Kfz 251/5
According to Chamberlain, Doyle and Jentz, the photo was of an Sd Kfz 251/7 towing a 2.8cm sPzB41 anti-tank gun. The Sd Kfz 251/7 was a 'mittlerer Pionierpanzerwagen. "When issued to the HQ companies, these vehicles were fitted with the FuG5." Also known as the Gerat 907.
The Sd Kfz 251/5 was a "mittlerer Schutzenpanzerwagen (Pi)" with FuG8 + FuG5 and was the radio command vehicle of the Panzerpionier Gruppe until discontinued in 1943.
There are no photos of a 251/5 in my sources.
