Does anybody have a list of units that operated the Nashorn?? Some pics with those units would be nice as well.

The number of Nashorns on the rolls as of 30Dec44 was as follows:

2SSPzDiv.=20 This is questionable since the autors could find no other reference to this unit having the Nashorn.

sHPJA 525=37
Total of 165

The organization of sPJAs was three companies each with 14 Nashorns plus 3 in the stab for a total of 45. The unit also had 3 SdKfz 7/1 with 20mm quad flakguns.

The following units replaced their Nashorns with the vehicles noted below as reported on 22Jan45.

s.H.Pz.Jg.Abt. 560 with 20 Jagdpanthers and 31 Jagdpanzer IV on 15Dec44
s.H.Pz.Jg.Abt. 655 with 31 Jagdpanzer IV on 30Dec44
s.H.Pz.Jg.Abt. 519 with 25 Jagdpanthers on 30Dec44

A total of 494 Nashorns were built during the war and the shipping records account for 458 of the vehicles.

Panzerjäger Nashorn / Sd. Kfz. 164!

Most of these tank destroyer detachments were deployed in the Eastern Front and, to a lesser extent, in Italy in sPanzerjägerabteilungen 88, 93, 519, 525, 560 and 655. Each detachment was composed of three companies, each with 14 tank destroyers, and had, in addition to 3 reserve tanks, an objective stock of 45 tank destroyers. The first mission took place in the summer of 1943 at the Battle of Kursk.

A Panzerjägerkompanie of Nashorn was composed of:

Company HQ (1 officer, 7 NCOs, 8 enlisted men):
Coy Commander / Panzerjägerführer, gunner, loader, radio operator, driver (Panzer 01)
Panzerjägerführer, gunner, loader, radio operator, driver (Panzer 02)
Chief Company troop, driver (in a medium-sized all-terrain vehicle)
3 Dispatch raiders (2 motorcycles and 1 motorcycle with sidecar)

1st Platoon (1 officer, 13 non-commissioned officers, 17 enlisted men):
Pl Commander, observer non-commissioned officer, driver (in light all-terrain vehicle)
Dispatch raider (on a motorcycle with sidecar)
Panzerjägerführer, gunner, loader, radio operator, driver (Panzer 11)
Panzerjägerführer, gunner, loader, radio operator, driver (Panzer 12)
Panzerjägerführer, gunner, loader, radio operator, driver (Panzer 13)
Panzerjägerführer, gunner, loader, radio operator, driver (Panzer 14)
2 drivers (in 2 caterpillar 2t trucks, open for ammunition)
1 driver (in a truck 3 tons for ammunition).

2nd platoon idem (Panzer 21-24)
3rd Platoon idem (Panzer 31-34)

Repair group (3 NCOs, 15 enlisted men)
10 tank mechanics
2 tank radio mechanics
2 ordnance mechanics
1 driver (in a light maintenance vehicle, Kfz.2 / 40)
1 driver (in a truck 3 t for spare parts)
1 driver (in a truck 3 t for workshop equipment, equipment for the Kfz.I group)
1 driver / mechanic (in half-track 2t, open).

Relay group (2 NCOs, 5 soldiers)
Panzerjägerführer, gunner, loader, radio operators, 2 motorist drivers (3 t truck)

Combat train (6 NCOs, 14 soldiers)
Hauptfeldwebel, driver (in a light all-terrain vehicle), chief mechanic, chief gunsmith, chief gunsmith assistant, 4 HiWis, equipment officer, driver (in truck 3 t, for equipment), 2 drivers (in 2 trucks 4.5 t, for fuel), 2 drivers (in 2 trucks 4.5 t, for ammunition)
Field kitchen officer, field cook, HiWi, driver (3 t truck, for large field kitchen)
NCO Nurse, stretcher / driver (motorcycle with sidecar)
Baggage train (1 non-commissioned officer, 3 soldiers)
Chief accountant, shoemaker, tailor, driver (in 1.5 t truck, for baggage)
