Re: vehicles of the Rommel's kampfstaffel in 1942
Hi Corjan
here are some more pictures of halftracks used by Rommel and his Stab.
I have only one picture of Igel and two of Adler. To see more would be really nice.
In your colour profile of Igel it is pictured as a Sdkfz 253 while in the photo it looks
more like a Sdkfz 250/3. Anybody has more information?
The vehicle in the second photo with Rommel in front of it is definitely a Sdkfz 253.
Regards
Armin

Hi
I think the Sdkfz 253 in the second picture in my last post
might belong to PzArtRgt. 155.

Good photos. Thanks a lot. Yes the SD Kfz 253 can be recognised easily If the hatches can be seen. I think that Rommel only used 250/3 for himself. More communication possibilities on all levels of command.arminfreitag wrote: ↑23 Mar 2021, 17:52Hi Corjan

The Heinkel Rommel used to travel with. Loaned to him, not part of the HQ/OB.

Hi Corjan
thank you for the picture of Adler. I knew this one already.
In my opinion Adler is not a Sdkfz 253 but it could be a 250/5
since it carried what I think is a theodolite or some other instrument
for surveying or observation as can be seen in the picture I posted.
The vehicle called Igel is in my opinion a Sdkfz 250 3 or 5 variant.
On the only picture of it that I have seen I cannot recognize any open hatches.
I think that they used the blanket seen spread out over the frame antenna as
a protection against the sun. It would not be necessary on a closed vehicle.
Greif is a Sdkfz 250/3.
I find the Sdkfz 253 with frame antenna an interesting and rare vehicle so here
some more pictures of it in North Africa.

Yes I agree. Adler is not a 253. Only logical to have survey units so often overseen as in the use of the 88 Flak where you always see the photos of the canon but never the EM or the Kommando Hilfsgerät.

Here is a drawing of a SD Kfz 253 with Rahmantenna
Re: vehicles of the Rommel's kampfstaffel in 1942
Rommel used a lot of Horch's Kfz 15. Here the one he drove in in Tobruk.
On the photo of the Heinkel another one can be seen

Re: vehicles of the Rommel's kampfstaffel in 1942
As far as I know Rommel had no personal Fieseler Stitch. On the pictures we see him use several planes. 2(H)/14 Aufklärung provided them
