could somebody explain to me how the panzer intercom functioned? Pics and links would be greatly appreciated!

I recommend you to look into the "Tigerfibel" (for example here: http://tiger1.info/fibel )
there you can find a chapter about the radio operator.

There is no single "Panzer intercom". But I have summarised the two most common types of the later war:
