Tiger II at Samur...
It's strange that Germans haven't a running conditions Tiger and French (and English with Bovington's Tiger) have !
Or they have a running Tiger I ?
And THIS Tiger 2, in what conditions is ?

Do you know what are average conditions of the tank ?
Can it move ?
What about the engine ?
I see there is some debate about the state of this tank. Well let me put it this way, the paint makes it look better than it is. All hatches are welded shut, that is why my friends have to enter through the bottom escape hatch. As you can see it sits on some big tree trunks, that is because the suspension has partially collapsed.
I am not sure about the state of the Saumur King Tiger. I know the engine works, because they used it to record the sound for the Tamiya 1/16 RC Tigers. But I am not sure if runs or not, but I think it does.
The bovington Tiger I is spectacular, those guys did such a great job.
see my photos of saumur king tiger it runs but a lot of misfiring on startup athttp://community.webshots.com/user/jtrowbridge5

Tiger I at Aberdeen Proving Grounds

#23

Post by dwseiple » 19 Jan 2005, 20:46

Did someone say that the Aberdeen Proving Grounds in Maryland in the USA does NOT have a Tiger I tank? I have pictures of me standing next to a Tiger I tank at that museum in 1980. Has it been removed? If so, where did they take it?
Also, the German tank in this thread has been identified as a Tiger II, which was a heavy tank. Is it not a Panther, which was a medium tank?

Thanks!

Great pictures! :-)

Are those two guys trying to sabotage the Tiger-panzer or trying to drive away with it? LOL

Just excellent photos. Thanks for posting

If you feel like coming as far south as Frankfort, Ky (Ft Knox) there is a Tiger II on dislay there..

see here..

http://www.generalpatton.org/qtvr_old/qtvr11f08.html

and turn the camera to the right..

They have a Panther and various other WWI & II Tanks.. after all it's the "Patton Museum" ;)

I was in Munster last summer, but I didn't know you could get into the Tiger II! How did you do that? :)
