Re: Vehicle identity requests
Sorry Holger, I don't know what brand your bus is. It looks French to me.
Please allow me another request.
What kind of vehicle is on the right?

Re: Vehicle identity requests
Hello Kees,
the vehicle on the right is a STZ-5 or CT3 601 (r) how the germans told it.
The bus looks a bit French, indeed. But many buses of that time looked a bit similar. There is a brand name on the radiator mask: Brossel.
Saddly I coul`d not find much information about Brossel in the net.
Regards, Holger.

Re: Vehicle identity requests
Hi Holger
It's a Belgian bus.
Brossel was a Belgian manufacturer of trucks, trains and buses. The firm was founded by the Brussels based Brossel brothers.
They took over Bovy in 1931 and Pipe in 1932. The Brussel brand was used for all chassis from 3-15 tons while the trucks up to 3 tons were named Bovy-Pipe. Many of the Belgian public transport buses till 1969 were built by Brossel. The firm was bought in 1969 by British Leyland and a year later the name Brossel disappeared.
regards
Kees

Re: Vehicle identity requests
Hallo Sander:
I am rather sure that your vehicle is a GMC 2 1/2 ton 4X4 Marmon Herrington cargo truck of the Belgian Army from the year 1938. A photo is available in Vanderveen's book "The Observer's Army Vehicle Directory to 1940" on page 30.
Here is another photo dated 1937 but I think it is really from 1938.

Re: Vehicle identity requests
Hi Sander:
Nice photo!! Have not seen that one before.
You probably already have identified the other vehicles, but anyway, there seems to be a Ford BB with Belgiian cab, a 1939 Ford also with Belgian cab, the GMC and next a British Commer possibly a beute vehicle. The last vehicle seems to be a 1938 Ford cabrijolet.
Cheers
Bill

Re: Vehicle identity requests
Hello Sander,
there were several photos of this vehicle on Ebay in the last time. I tried to get one but they were to expensive.
During crane operation, the diesel engine propelled an electrical generator which operated the crane. The vehicle could be moved with lifted and blocked load.
Regards, Holger.
