According to Holger`s webpage http://www.kfzderwehrmacht.de/Homepage_ ... _vles.html, I think there are some differences... ...front mudguards, cab,....

Re: Vehicle identity requests
Hi Sturm,
Yes, I see. Good question. I have one similar to those also called 420 VLES.I assumed they were just different year models. Anyway, I think we can agree that your photo is a subvariant of the 420. Perhaps Bert has the answer in his book on French Vehicles of WW2.

A 1937 420 MCR with bit similar mudguards and subtly different rims.

Re: Vehicle identity requests
Hi Max, hi Sturm78,
You ask me about this Rochet-Schneider truck. Unfortunately I don´t have a book on French vehicles of WW 2, only on the vehicles of the French Army 1939 - 1940 and, sorry, I don´t have the answer to Your question. But I will tell You what I think:
I don´t think that it is the type 420 VLES, that´s the truck delivered to the French Army with a wheelbase 4,65m.
And I don´think that it is a subvariant of the type 420, type 420 Vl or 420 VLE, both with the same wheelbase 4,65m.
I think it could be the type 375 VLR or the type 355 "Ajax" because of more payload and a longer wheelbase than the type 420. It is really a pity that I don´t have a pic of these trucks. So my thoughts are only assumptions.
Best regards
Bert

Re: Vehicle identity requests
Hello Bert and George,
Thanks a lot for your opinions. While unsuccessfully trying to find my original source I came across these 2 pics on https://reibert.info/threads/trofei-bli ... te.453363/. Both purport to be 420 VLES and both look a bit different: So I guess I'm at a loss for an answer at this point.

Hi Max,
thank You very much for our reply and posting the two interesting pics of the Rochet-Schneider 420 VLES. On the first pic You can see the workshop on the chassis of this type. Here the drawing of it out of the book ""L´automobile sous l´uniforme" by Francoise Vauvillier with the comment: no other pic available.
Best regards
Bert
