Max,
Enclosed image is a drawing by Hubert Cance which seems to support your suggestion that the light tank is indeed a Vickers 'Dutchman'.
I notice, directly beneath the nose of the tank, what appears to be an Austin 8 tourer so I wonder if abandoned British vehicles are being collected prior to their being assessed for use or cannibalisation by the German Armed Forces.

Hi Rob,
Thanks very much for your valued opinion. Your image seems to be truncated and should read MK. IIIB, which as I understand it is the Commercial Export version (aka Dutchman) of the Mk. III with different turret as seen below:

What had me perplexed is that I had thought all the Dutchmen were relegated to training duty in England after the order was cancelled. Apparently at least one found its way to the continent with the BEF and ended up on the back of an Sd. Ah. 115.
Cheers,
Max

Hi Corjan, hi Max,

yes, it is a Faun! Very good ID! But couldn´t it be the type L 400 with an open cab like shown on Holger´s site?

Best regards

Bert
Thanks Bert and Max,

Very interesting! There is another pic of a L400 presumably in the desert

Hi Corjan,

an interesting pic. It could be in teh desert, but was in Russia. Here the whole pic out of the book "Lastkraftwagen der Wehrmacht" by Reinhard Frank.
Here the text to the pic:
"A confiscated FAUN 5 tonner on the Don high road in the summer 1942. The dust whirled up was murderous for the engines - the vehicles were not intended for such extreme conditions."

Best regards

Bert

Hi Corjan,

a very difficult question. I think it is the type 200 lang W 21 like on the pic. The spare wheel was removed.

Best regards

Bert

Bert and Max, thank you for the identification!
Perhaps more photos will appear of the same vehicle to be sure.
Found this pic of a similar vehicle.

Hi uncle,
I don't have your answer, just a couple of candidates to consider from Walter Spielberger's "Fahrzeuge der Reichswehr 1920-1935". I have my doubts, though. Hillary Doyle's drawings are always very accurate and the bonnet louvers are a bit different.

First photo evidence, that a French Renault AHN or R was used by the DAK.!
Believe that the wheels are too big for an AHS.

Hi all,

Any idea about this rare 4-Rad armoured vehicle ??
The general configuration of the armour is similar to that of the SdKfz 221-222 family but this vehicle is considerably taller...

Hi Sturm,
Wow, that is certainly a mystery to me. I've searched all my references on 4 Rad armoured cars including prototypes and can't find any (except for the 247 Ausf B) having front mudguards extending down to the bumper. There's also something about the plain looking body with no details such as vision port covers, or weapon, not to mention the ungainly mounting of the spare wheel that give me the impression of a one-off, possibly unarmoured training vehicle or something like that. But that's only a wild theory and am hoping to see others.
Cheers,
Max
