Vehicle identity requests
Re: Vehicle identity requests
Hi Rnox,
sorry, I cannot help You. But here another pic of such an ambulance with captured soldiers (maybe Belgians?). Maybe it can help.
Regards
Bert

Maybe Magirus M 10.
Re: Vehicle identity requests
Can anyone make out the license plate details or perhaps ID this DAK vehicle?
Re: Vehicle identity requests

Re: Vehicle identity requests
fantastic thanks guys
Re: Vehicle identity requests
Hi snuffbox,
not a real help I know. Here a pic of another truck in Northern Africa, maybe of the same unit (source of the pic: an expired ebay auction).

Bert

Re: Vehicle identity requests
The plate partially reads 57541 or possibly 67541
Re: Vehicle identity requests
It is possible that the registration is French military and the final number "1" is in fact the central white stripe in the tricolour flag. This was normally at the start of the plate, but Vauvillier cites the placing of the flag after the numbers as a variation,
Kerry.
Kerry.
Re: Vehicle identity requests
Hi snuffbox,
here my thougts to the possible unit of this truck:
I have found two other pics with the same white-on-black letter-number-combination: A 9 - 9, C 3 - 15. With the one on Your pic (E 7 - 15) and the one I posted (H 6 - 8) we have four possible vehicles of the same or similar units. And we can say that it must be a unit of the Heer. A unit or tactical emblem is not to see. So I think it could belong to a motor transport column of the DAK (Deutsches Afrikakorps). Looking for the supply units of the DAK there were six supply motor transport batallions (Nachschub-Kolonnen-Abteilungen): 909, 902, 686, 533, 529 and 619. I assume, that all these trucks belong to heavy motor transport columns. Looking for these batallions I got the following information (http://www.lexikon-der-wehrmacht.de) about Nachschub-Kolonnen-Abteilung 909:
Kraftwagen-Werkstattzug
The letter could stand for the batallion: H = here Nachschub-Kolonnen-Abteilung 909, the number stands for the column: 7 = seventh column. This batallion had seven columns. On the door You can see "E 7" again and under it the number 15. So it was truck or vehicle number 15 of this unit. In all the truck on Your pic could belong to the 7th heavy motor transport column of the Nachschub-Kolonnen-Abteilung 909.
The trucks on the other pics with other letters in combination with another number must belong to other supply motor transport batallions.
What do You think about my theory?
Regards
Bert

Re: Vehicle identity requests
What is the correct Type designation of the Büssing-NAG in Rocketman's first pic?
Cheers,
Max

Re: Vehicle identity requests
What exactly is a Therm-Kol. What did the trucks carry exactly. This is the first I have come across this particular designation for a transport column. I have seen all the pictures from this series.
Thanks
