Vehicle identity requests
Re: Vehicle identity requests
Good lord, so you can see it! I’d mistaken it for part of what I took to be its makeshift roof rack. Now you tell me and I see the same system on the sledges all is revealed. Yes it is a most interesting conversation, thank you both again.

The Puegot has a radial aircraft engine mounted in the rear - you can just seen the exhaust pipes in the above Photo. Max posted an additional photo of this exact vehicle in the "Captured French Vehicles" thread several days ago showing it on its tires with the skis stowed on the roof racks. Interesting conversion.
Just for the record Jose85 actually posted the other pics here:https://forum.axishistory.com/viewtopic ... start=3090

Thank you Max, so I have a print of the same shot, mine was yellowing from a lack of fixer too, so I corrected that and gently retouched.

Thanks for the correction Max. My apologies to Jose85 - who in actuality posted those shots.
Re: Vehicle identity requests
Yet another question from Paris mes amis. A captured British army Humber Snipe in 1940 France is all I’m told. Looking at the brickwork, my guess is Nord Pas de Calais so Dunkirk seems likely. Judging by state of the debris and the serious splits to the foreground wall, which was unlikely to keep standing for long, my guess is that it wasn’t long after the event, though of course that is only a thought.
What I wonder can the unit emblem tell us, Who and where were they and when?

Hi Kerry,
IMHO both are Saurers, regretfully I'm away from my references and I can't tell you the exact models.

Hi Kerry,
the first is a Saurer type 5 BTDv I think. Here a pic with a similar cabin (source of the pic: an expired ebay auction). But, sorry ilfil, the second is not a Saurer, but also Austrian, a Gräf & Stift type 7 V D. Here a pic of this truck from Holgers homepage (http://www.kfzderwehrmacht.de).
Best regards
Bert

Re: Vehicle identity requests
Can anyone please id this Mercedes Benz, I got it on eBay. Apparently it’s Luftwaffe beacon deployment, 1940 France. Is it a Mercedes Benz type sd.kfz.2 170 VK Kubelwagen radio car I wonder? No spare wheels...

Re: Vehicle identity requests
Hi Stuart,
IMO it is not a Kfz. 2 but a type 170 V Kübelwagen, originally intended for the Polizei but used by other Wehrmacht branches as well:

Re: Vehicle identity requests
Thank you very much Max, that’s a big help. I wondered about that as my photograph seemed to show a flat radiator grill, but as the photo is taken head-on, it must be simply giving the impression of being flat.
