Re: Vehicle identity requests
Hi Dirk,
It is Dart T13 tractor prototype (AFAIK one-off) of the tank transporter proposed by this Missouri-based company. In 1942 or 1943 it was, I can't recall.
Here it is on trials coupled with M15 trailer:
HTH
Cheers!

This old timer has been in my unsolved mystery file for years. Some sort of provincial poliziei I presume. Düsseldorf number plate?

Re: Vehicle identity requests
Hello Max,
From the caps being worn I believe this is one of the cars which were stripped down and used as winches to launch gliders for the DLV. The rear wheels were either removed or jacked up and the rear axel drive was used to spool in a launch cable.
The DLV, or Deutsche Luftsportverband, was an organisation set up in 1933 to train pilots, and to circumvent the Geneva Convention, allowing the early training of pilots for the nascent Luftwaffe. There also appears to be a DLV logo on the side of the car.
Sorry, the identity of the car is also unknown to me, but I thought the above may be of interest and perhaps point towards an answer.
Cheers,
Kerry.

Re: Vehicle identity requests
Hello again Max,
I may be very wide of the mark, but the slightly "shouldered" radiator and the square makers badge suggest a circa 1926 Buick, similar to the car below,
Cheers,
Kerry.

Re: Vehicle identity requests
Hello kerry and dirk,
Brilliant, Kerry. I think you are spot on. I thought that was a polizei badge but DLV appears correct. Fine deduction on the glider winch application as well. I'm not good at old timers but I agree both you and dirk are correct on the '26-27 Buick. I wasn't even looking for an American car here. Super job, now I can file this one properly.
