Vehicle identity requests
Re: Vehicle identity requests
Hi Max,
Yes, you could very well be on it there. I had considered the Wanderer, but there were too many differences to convince me. Notice the way the scuttle rises up to the windscreen mount, the seat mountings outside the side-rails of the chassis and the swept, rounded and shallower rear wings. I thought perhaps pre-production differences, they are obviously Reichswehr period, but it is the bonnet line that keeps driving me away from the Wanderer. Maybe it is just the gloss paintwork which makes the rise in the bonnet line look more dramatic?
Many thanks for your identification Max, I am seriously rethinking my ideas,
Regards,
Kerry.

Hello again Max,
What a difference a few clicks can make! Your identification made me re-think and check out some sites. Oldtimers Picture Gallery showed this, which answers all of my doubts, including having the gloss paint.
Many, many thanks Max,
Regards,
Kerry.

Hi Kerry,
Yes I can see were you were coming from. I also had reservations at first but after much study taking into account photographic angles, lighting, etc. I felt that the preponderance of evidence pointed to the W11 and nothing else.
Here's another shiny one for you:

Re: Vehicle identity requests
Hi all,
I'm trying to identify a few specifics of the following Panzerbefehlswagen, found in Anderson "Panther" 2017 pg158.
I've had a look through both the search function here and google but, currently, I'm at a loss.
So far it looks like a rather early Ausf D, given the cupola, smoke candles, and early AA mount.
If anyone happens to have any further info, potential Tactical Number or other photos, that would be fantastic - but probably a long shot, given there is no mention of the date/location (I assuming '43-44 East Front?)
Thanks in advance

In the background of this well-known photo, what appears to be possibly an ambulance is passing by:
Beutepanzer states that schnelle Brigade West (and, thus, presumably, 21.PD) had a number of these ambulances.
However, on closer inspection, the engine louvres are wrong (more of them and vertical rather than horizontal), the fender shape is wrong and the distance between the upper body and the running board is wrong and some other details also do not match. The closest match I could find is the Unic S 20, but there appears to be some details that don't match that also, such as the horizontal strip running down the side of the body (don't know the technical term for this - it is located right above the "Service de Sante") being higher and thus there is more space behind the window on the body and this "strip".

I had always assumed that this was a Citroën 11 UB,

Re: Vehicle identity requests
Hello Sam,
It is difficult to be sure as the scan is blurry, but I think it is possible it is a circa 1936 Renault ACZ. The body style looks fine, the wheels are hard to judge but do look "off". However that could just be the photo's blurriness.
Cheers,
Kerry.
