Re: Vehicle identity requests
Hello,
I have a question regarding Opel Blitz Omnibus. I have a typenshield of Opel Blitz with following information: TYP:3,6-47-NK. It should therefore be a Opel Blitz Omnibus, if I am not wrong. Nevertheless Baujahr is 1938. But I read that the Omnibus production started in 1939. Or just Ludewig started he production in 1939 (Modell W39)? Thank you for any opinion. I would like to add a picture of the shield but I can´t.

Re: Vehicle identity requests
The 4700 mm wheelbase chassis isn't necessary of bus, it could be LWB truck - GS, furniture van, etc.

Re: Vehicle identity requests
Hi Hinkle, hi ilfil,
I think You are right, ilfil, because the designation of the special bus chassis introduced 1937 is "3,6 - 47 NR". NR means NiederRahmenchassis - low frame chassis. NK could mean "NiederrahmenKoffer - low frame box". By the way the production of the "3,6 - 47 NR" - bus started May 1937 and ended July 1944.
Here a pic of such a Niederrahmenfahrgestell as a removal van 1938 (source of the pic: "Truck Profile Opel "Blitz" by Wolfgang Westerwelle).
Regards
Bert

Re: Vehicle identity requests
Hi Sturm 78,
the differebce between the type 440 and 640 is the engine:
440 had an engine with 45 h.p., 640 with 55 h.p.
So it is difficult to distinguish both types.
To the production numbers: type 440: 713, type 640: 3780.
To Your pic: I think it is the type 640.
Here pics of the two types out of the book "Kraftfahrzeuge und Panzer des österreichischen Heeres" by Walter J. Spielberger.
Best regards
Bert
