Vehicle identity requests
Re: Vehicle identity requests
Hi,
thanks for the options, but were there any Kfz.2 roundback bodies on these? That is what puzzles me.

Maybe a modified civilian W 22: Notice the unkübellike one-piece windshield.

Hi Jose, hi Markus,
I think that these Kfz.2 roundback bodies are typical for the early models of the Kfz. 2. And they had the one-piece windshield. Here pics of a BMW and an Adler Trumpf, very rare vehicles. Source of the pics: BMW: "Kraftfahrzeuge und Panzer" by Werner Oswald, Adler: "Personenkrafwagen der Wehrmacht" by Reinhard Frank.
Best regards
Bert

Hi Bert,
Hanomag also, but I haven't seen it on the Wanderer or Mercedes-Benz Jose was asking about, or on any with those perforated rims for that matter. And thanks for posting those rare pics!

As "einheitsdiesel" said, the Mercedes is a 770 W150, of which most went to the infamous luminaries of the Third Reich, and only very few to private persons. The car shown is the most common Tourenwagen version with unpadded hood, but of course here in armoured form. Quite obviously a wartime picture, as the car is in matte paint (black?) with lights covered. More than half of the 88 W150s carried Tourenwagen bodies and in this shape were also used by some the highest ranks of the Wehrmacht, like Rommel and von Falkenhorst.AlifRafikKhan wrote: ↑16 Nov 2019, 12:38Hi, what kind of Hitler's Mercedes is this? Also the car in the background. Thanks.

Others here are more well versed in Feldkuche, but IMO this has several characteristics of a Reichswehr or Wehrmacht Hf.11, e.g. 6 bolt wheels, single lid coffee boiler, and solid (no holes) draw bars. However if that is a roasting unit chimney base (or hole) on the right hand side aft of the front compartment it would be an Hf. 13. An overhead and rear view would be nice for additional confirmation. Overall, it looks like a very nice find.
Cheers,

Thanks a lot, Max!
Re: Vehicle identity requests
Hi folks,
I have been looking closely at both photos of the Kfz2 query car. Both photos appear to be of the same car, what is visible of the registration and the tactical markings bear this out. The front view is clearly of a Wanderer W22, rare enough in and of itself, Holger's site quotes less than 50 made, but there does not seem to be any readily available information on possible Kfz2s based on this vehicle. An interesting pair of photos of a car built in 1933/34 and still in frontline service, seemingly in the Soviet Union.
Kerry.

Good eye Max. Nice find indeed. Additional photos would help. Perhaps a Moderator can copy this post to the Field Kitchen thread where our expert members can have a look. Thanks for sharing!Hello Stabsveterinar,

Re: Vehicle identity requests
Thank you very much, Rand JS, i'll try to get more photos!
Re: Vehicle identity requests
Max's ID points are spot on, but the storage arrangement in the 2nd picture and the main chimney appears--at least to me--to be round, and the single hatch coffee boiler would point to an HF 13. Perhaps a hybrid of parts?

Re: Vehicle identity requests
Hi Rand JS,
I agree. Some of the old HF 11's were upgraded to Hf.13 standards. I think that's what we may have here. Too bad the chimney is missing but a rear end shot might tell the tale.
