Re: Vehicle identity requests
Hi Max,
Yes, You are right. On the top was the Reichspropagandaleitung (propaganda direction of the Reich), then came the Hauptstelle Film (main office film) and then the Gaufilmstellen (district film office).
Here a text about the operation of the Tonfilmwagen 1938/39: "Tonfilmwagen der Gaufilmstellen tragen den film in die abgeschiedenen Alpentäler und Bergdörfer der deutschen Ostmark, in die stillen, von neuem Leben erfüllten Ortschaften des deutschen Sudetenlandes und in die Städte der neuen Gaue." (Sound film vehicles carry the movie to the remote alpine valleys and mountain villages of the German Ostmark, to the quiet villages of the German Sudetenland filled with new life and to the towns of the new districts).
In 1941 there were 835 "Tonfilmwagen" in the Gaufilmstellen.
And there was an agreement between the High Command of the Armed forces and the Hauptstelle Film of the Reichspropagandaleitung (RPL) 17th June 1943:
"Die RPL - Hauptamt Film - stellt während des Krieges ihre Organisation, ihren Geräte- und Wagenpark sowie ihren Kopienbestand in den Dienst der filmischen Truppenbetreuung. In kinolosen Unterkunftsbereichen und in Gefechtsstellung befindliche Einheiten aller Wehrmachtssteile werden durch Tonfilmwagen so bespielt, dass der einzelne Soldat nach Möglichkeit alle 14 Tage einen Film mit neuester Wochenschau sieht." ("During the war, the RPL - Hauptamt Film - makes available its organization, its fleet of equipment and vehicles, and its stock of copies at the troops care by films/movies. Units of all parts of the Wehrmacht that are in quarter areas without cinemas and in combat positions get film projections by sound film vehicles in such a way that the individual soldier sees a film with the latest newsreel every 14 days if possible").
I hope You can understand my translation. It is not so easy to translate such an official language.
Best regards
Bert

Thank you very much for taking the time to translate that information. My understanding of the organizational structure and function of these Tonfilmwagen is much clearer now and I greatly appreciate your efforts.

Re: Vehicle identity requests
Thanks, Markus.
This is also a possibility. The problem is that I've never seen German number plates which starts with "R" (save the RAD vehicles), officially at least.
Thanks anyway.
Cheers!

Re: Vehicle identity requests
FWIW RO is listed here among German WW II plates: https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Liste_der ... istorisch) in addition to RAD, RK (two entries), RKU, RP and RU.

I agree too, but for me its a early postwar picture, 1940 is for me not posible.

The picture is from 1949 (earliest) and shows a
manifestation of the workers from Factory 10(nowadays JSC Arsenal AD), Kazanluk.

Re: Vehicle identity requests
According to https://dr-herzfeld.de/kennzeichengesch ... stland.pdf RO-77098 would be in the "Reichskommissariat Ostland" Belarus plate number range.peeved wrote: ↑31 Jan 2020, 12:58FWIW RO is listed here among German WW II plates: https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Liste_der ... istorisch) in addition to RAD, RK (two entries), RKU, RP and RU.

Re: Vehicle identity requests
Thanks, Markus!
Well, let it be "RO" then. I agree. It fits.

Pure lie. It looks the real problem here is with my weak memory, I completely forgot about Reichspost vehicles number plates.
Cheers!

Re: Vehicle identity requests
Bit delayed but thanks for the suggestions on that bus.
Few other:
bad quality, but that small boattail sportscar Euro coachbuilt US car? Ford, but what? The rear layout looks somewhat similar to DAF Trado conversion on Opel Blitz, weirdo cab... Thanks!

Hi Alif,
You're not giving us much there but IMO it's a '37 Buick.
