Hello All. I study a french vehicle in German Service. Im wondering the difference between the type Unic P 107 B, P 107 BU or P 107 U1. I see different cab arrangements and cargo bed. Is anyone able to tell me the difference between these 3 types? Thank you for any help. To start it off is this correctly identified as a BU

Hi fliegerhorst,

a very interesting question: I will try to give You an answer.
Citroen-Kegresse developped this type of tractor under the designation P 107 and had already produced prototypes. But then this company went bankrupt. In 1937 the company Unic took on the production of this type. In the book "L´automobile sous l`uniforme" by Francois Vauvillier there is the information, that maybe the type P 107 B had the engine of Citroen with 3060 cc, but only 50 hp. The type P 107 UB had the engine of Unic with 3450 cc and 60 hp. The type P 107 U 1 was a new construction and had a closed cab.
Now to the different superstructure:
there were tractors for the light artillery, artillery type (tracteur léger pour 75mm and 105mm) and tractor for engineer material, engineers type (tracteur léger pour amtériel du génie).
And at least the Wehrmacht captured a lot of these tractors and pressed them into German service. These vehicles got the Kenn-Nummer U 304 (f). Most of them got a complete overhaul and some got parts of a German superstructure. Sources of these details out of the book "L´automobile sous l`uniforme" and "Beute-Kraftfahrzeuge und -Panzer der deutschen Wehrmacht" by Walter J. Spielberger.
Here some pics : first the engineers type.

Regards

Bert

Hi Dirk,
Like you I would be keen to see a Snipe/Super Snipe umbau. The closest I have is a Super Snipe with Imbert gas producer, sorry.
Kerry.

Thank you Bert. Sad to not hear from you via email, hope all is well. You have given a most excellent answer. Appreciate your knowledge in these matters. The drawing configuration of the artillery version in this picture. Would be correctly ID as either P 107 B or BU artillery ? as the engine is not visible to us to distinguish B from a BU. However Citroen only make prototype? if at all? and mass production took place by Unic in 37, so most most models if not all would be BU one would think if based on engine type alone?

The trailers are interesting to me as well, is that Pf. 14 / 15 ? with captured pontoon boats in the picture of engineer P 107
