Re: Vehicle identity requests
Hello, long time reader first time poster. Apologies for this being from the back. These vehicles are from the 9. SS Panzer Division during the Battle of Arnhem, Operation Market Garden September 1944. Unsure of what day specifically. Hope you guys can identify what they are

Re: Vehicle identity requests
Hi everybody,
I recently found a photo of a Panzer I variant which is unknown. There are no information on the vehicle itself and only 4 photos which I have all collected here. All of them reveal a different aspect and give information about the vehicle.
Photo A:
Photo B:
Photo C:
Photo D:
Photo description revealed nothing.
These are the facts that I got from the photos:
Photo A:
- German Tanker in the front in white uniform -> maybe training school (Pre War, maybe 1939)
Photo B:
- Radio equipment with antenna -> command vehicle? (Pre War, maybe 1939)
Photo C:
- The tank together with other Befehlswagen Sdkfz. 265 (maybe France 1940)
Photo D:
- Scrapped for parts, probably not destroyed in combat. The letter H shows that it was part of the artillery branch which makes sense as befehlswagen were later used as artillery reconaissance
There are atleast two vehicles as Photo A shows an Ausf. A chassis and photo D an Ausf. B chassis

Hi Smaragd123
intersting early trial version (?) of a Funk or PzBefWg. As you mentioned
I also couldn't find any information of it. But I have some more pictures
both of Ausf A and B. I will attach them in 2 posts. Hope you like them.
Best regards
Armin

Re: Vehicle identity requests
Thanks very much Armin.
I love them! I searched for days for new photos but could only find these. Those defiently help with telling their story. I will try to analize them. I really like the first one with the checkboard pattern which would reveal that it already existed before 1937. Also that there were more than two vehicles with different antennas. Also some seem to have side visors and some not.
Best regards Smaragd

Re: Vehicle identity requests
Hi Armin,
Do you also happen to know more about this Panzer I variant? It looks very similar but not the same.

Re: Vehicle identity requests
Hi Smaragd123
Pz I without turrets were used in many different forms as Fahrschulpanzer for driver's training,
Instandsetzungskraftwagen for repairs and maintanance, Pionierpanzer for transportation of engineer's equipment,
Munitionspanzer for supplying ammunition, fuel or anything else and as tractors.
It is very difficult to distinguish the different roles and to find information on most of them. The one you posted
could be any of these. I think it is just an open Wanne with frames for a canopy. There are others with different kinds
of closed superstructures as well. I have many pictures of different kinds of superstructures or canopies of which I will post
some examples in the next few posts.
But first 3 more pictures of the vehicle you posted first.
Regards
Armin
