Hello Sturm, hello Bill,

the Henschel bus is not a Henschel type 38 S 2 - but this bus was based on its chassis. This type designation would fit to the lorry with normal wheelbase but not to a bus (the last number stands for the Wheelbase). The right type desigantion is Henschel type 38 S 3 N.

Regards, Holger.

Hi all,

Thanks Holger. Another Wehrmacht truck unknown to me, next to a row of SdKfz 6 halftracks.

Sometimes, I hate cammo photos.

Just to keep this one going, the closest I can come to is perhaps a Magirus and maybe an L 145 or the next smallest.
Looks to be a RW period photo to me.
Holger will surely know.

Hello Sturm, hello Bill,

I think this is a VOMAG 3 LR/LV with the early open standard driver's cab of the Wehrmacht, or possibly a 4 LR. The 3 LR/LV was made beginning in 1935. The side plates of the engine bonnet were rectangular contrary to the side plates of the predecessor model 3 Cz which were angular on the lower side. The lower part of the steering column was standing free contrary to the covered steering column of the 3 Cz.

There is a VOMAG 3 LR/LV with serial driver's cab on my side:

Hi Sturm, hi Bill,

this truck could be a Vomag. I cannot give the exact determination, but possibly the 3-ton-type 3 LR 443.

Regards

From an auction on Ebay, the truck belongs to schwere Werfer Regt 2 on its way to destruction at Stalingrad. I can't decide what the truck is though !

Hi Alan:

For the moment, I don't know either but I am working on it.

One thing, it is a civilian impressed vehicle in my opinion. i do not believe the German Forces had three way tippers in their normal inventory.

Thanks Bill.

Mrpeanut, that is amphibious, a T38, I'll bet it didn't take long for it to throw that track with a missing return wheel !

Hi, I guessed it could be a Tatra T27b truck as 3-way Meiller kippers were delivered to the Organisation Todt in the early war days. However the shape of the door and its window show that it cannot be a Tatra.
I don't know if any other light (WH) trucks were fitted with 3-way Meiller kippers.
Best regards
Kees

Hi Alan/Kees:
Still in the elimination process with no success.

Cannot be an Opel, wrong wheels and door glass, cannot be a Tatra, wrong door glass and it has a solid rear axle.

We need to concentrate on what little we can see of the rear wheels and the registration plate, which may be the best clue if I could just remember what country it came from. It does not appear German, although certainly civilian.

The thrill of the hunt, as always.

Hi all,,
The unknown truck has a split rear axle. The Ford V3000 and his forerunners has such a rear axle. Perhaps there are other German trucks with such an axle.

Hi Protze:

Sorry for my possible wrong use of the term for the axle. I meant "swing" or "independent" rear axles which were found on Tatra vehicles.

The door glass is close to a Ford but this looks to me to be a heavier vehicle.
Also, I found other photos of German civilian registration plates that look like this one so I am still thinking a requesitioned civvie vehicle.
And......I still do not have a good answer.
