I spent more than three hours trying to ID that car with no success.

I got stopped on trying to tie the car to the dealership name on the storefront behind the vehicle and it kept coming up as a German car dealer.

Hi Larry, Bill,
Thanks for the kind words Bill. As a a blessed Tatra streamlied car owner, I also acquired a lot of info on other aerodynamic cars, so I knew the car from literature. I never saw the Bundesarchiv photo before, Larry. It is one of the best photos around.
Finding some links to explain its history and whereabouts wasn't that much work of course.
The Romanian car was powered by a 22hp Berlin built 1.4 litre four cylinder AGA engine, though patent applications show that Persu also considered an electric engine and a flat 12 cylinder underfloor engine.

Here is an odd one I picked off of ebay today.

The car looks to me like a "Junior Series" Packard of the late 1930s.
The real question though is what is it set up for?? It doesn't look like it is under repair, it looks like it is being used for some purpose and I cannot figure it out.

Any thoughts??

I found a new question on a Büssing
I found the pic in the www, interesting is the body! its a regular WH-body or a civil Furniture-Transporter?
is a spare-weel in the body normal? look at the ventilation over the spare-weel?

Can any one, tell me what kind of body it is ?

In the background of the pic are two power-units. I think its a WL-platoon.
Both units I and II are a little bit different. Is only the trailer different or the hole power-units?

Hello Henning,

to the first question: I think it is a civilian superstructure. Possibly a power unit is installed behind the driver's cab - therefore the ventilation slots. So it could be a refrigerated van body or a broadcasting vehicle.
And it is not a Büssing but a Mercedes-Benz L 6500.

That photo appears on the Czech coachbuilders "Sodomka" site where they say it is a refrigerator truck and they say it is based on a Buessing chassis. I would go with Holger's judgement as many manufacturer history sites often have errors.

Of interest is that on Sodomka's site, the photo is reversed.

For the "Büssing" MB, I think it was a german site where Büssing truck types listet with some pics, it must be an mistake like the meaning of Bill.
I have a second similar pic. Whats your opinion , a refrigator too? source was E-bay

Do you have a idea for the different power units?

You told us that the cz trucks were right steering ( Skoda Thema). Is the steering weel at the pic on the right site???It would be a interessting detail ! A german MB truck with right steering! and this in that times!

Never say never. In the last Tankograd issue there is a photo of a Opel Admiral with right steering wheel.

To your trailer question from 24th October:

I think it is a "Motorspritze als Anhänger fahrbar". A photo of such a trailer is in Waffen Arsenal Band 145, on side 37.

Yes you are right! Last week i bought that waffen-Arsenal and today I get it with the post.
I am a aktive Fire volunteer and we use only the TS 8( 800l/ 8 bar), sometimes in an TSA. we dont use the smaller one 400l. If you read books about the SHD , Feuerlöschpolizei or Fire-service in the WL you find equipement, KzS8, TS 8 or TSA. I never saw such a trailer with a Motorspritze 400l.
I try to get the D 600 or more infos about the trailer. In moment I have no explination for the 6-7 smaller hoses!

Bill sorry may be you are right with your answer.
But i am learning. I must be carfulier with my answers, often there is a second or other possibility!

to Your question with the power units. I think that these could be special trailers with energy stations for searchlights. In the Waffen-Arsenal Band 145 "KFZ-Anhänger der Wehrmacht" there are mentioned three different trailers :
special trailer (Sd.Anh.) 104 for searchlight G 150 K with 24 kW
special trailer (Sd.Anh.) 204 for searchlight 200 cm with 60 kW
special trailer (Sd.Anh.) 206 for searchlight 200 cm with 120 kW.

In this booklet is no pic of these trailers. So I cannot give You more informations.
