Hi Henning,

to the destroyed Red Cross vehicle. I agree with You that it can be a Borgward or Hansa-Lloyd truck, the roof of the cab, the rear hinges of the door, but I don´t think that it is the 3 ton version G.W. I assume that it must be a lighter type of Borgward or better Hansa-Lloyd, because the truck was used as an ambulance and didn´t need so much payload to transport wounded soldiers. So the Wehrmacht often used light trucks as improvised ambulances. But it´s very difficult for me to ID the exact type, because the pic shows the wreck and not the intact truck.

Regards

Bert

Hello Bertram

That is a interessting meening. But what is with the Opel-Blitz 3t, often used by the red cross with the " Einheitskoffer"? Why not a Borgward 3t, and what is with the Borward 3t with the wooden body on rail?
We need for an exectly answer a side pic from the wreck.
So I think we get a compromise  : yes a Borgward/HL, but the Type???

best regards
Henning

Hi Sturm:

Your last vehicle is an AEC Matador 4x4 tractor with the "streamlined" roof and not a version one sees very often.

'Tis indeed, Bill.

George, your destroyed Red Cross vehicle is an Austin K2Y, as I think is the one that's down to a frame on the left of the picture. Anyone identify anything else in that photo?

Hi,
ref the MATADOR above, it carries the insignia of the I Flak Korps (front left), this Korps was used to give support to Army Group Centre in Russia, photo is mid 1943 and onwards.

Hi all,

A very interesting image from Ebay. I think in a Mercedes-Benz L4500 truck with artillery or pionier body but I am not sure. Which is your opinion? I've never seen this. 8O

Hello Sturm

Yes it is very interessting. I get pics from the same body but on Büssing N4500 . look at all mudguards There are allways"Gestelle für Kabelrollen" Sorry i dont know so fast the english words.
One pic shows the Büssing with a "Kommandogerät"
May be your car could be used by the WL.

best regards
Henning

Hi Sturm:

Based on the arrangement of the cooling louvres in the hood/bonnet, the shape of the radiator guard and the type of wheels, I would agree with you that your personnel transport truck is a Benz L4500 S version.

Hi Sturm, hi Bill,

thank You very much for posting this pic of an extreme rare vehicle I think.
In the book "Militärfahrzeuge of the Wehrmacht" by Kurt Rieger and Uwe Feist there are two pics of such a vehicle of Büssing-Nag, determined as an anti-aircraft artillery-measurement range truck.

Isn´t it the cross-country version of Mercedes-Benz L 4500 A like the Büssing ?

Regards

Bert
