To come back to this two unidentified cab forward lorries. Obviously, they are of the same type. Only difference is, that the headlights on the lower photo are a bit higher arranged than on the upper vehicle and it seems, that the upper vehicle had a divided bumper.
Yesterday I checked again this Polish site:

http://www.polskie-auta.pl/stara/index.htm

I came accros the PZInz 713/723 and the PZInz 603.

http://www.polskie-auta.pl/stara/713-2.jpg

The eye catcher was the radiator grille. We see striking horizontal arranged garnish mouldings over the radiator grille and a slim but high triangular shapes brand sign on the upper middle of the radiator grille going over two sections of the radiator grille.
I found these features on my COE lorries as well as on these PZInz lorries. Sadly, I coul'd not find a photo of a PZInz 713 without radiator cover. Has someone other photos of the PZInz 713/723 then these shown on the Polish website?

What do you think about these similarities?

Regards,

Holger.

Now I think we have found the solution!

Today I received a photo of a chassis captured by Wehrmacht troops at the beginning of the campaign against the Soviet Union. It is clearly the same chassis as the one used for my unknown COE lorries.

The known history of the PZInz 713 is, that several chassis of the PZInz 713 without body but with driver's seat were to be seen in the Soviet Union after the war. But I don't know which war is ment in the text. The most likely sense is, that the chassis were captured by Soviet troops during their aggression against Poland in 1939. Some of these chassis were then captured by German troops in 1941. Therefor, with "after the war", the war against Poland 1939 is ment.

I'm convinced that this chassis (several of these are seen in the whole column) is a PZInz 713 chassis captured by German troops in 1941. Later these chassis got driver's cab's and superstructures according to German specifications. And this is what we see in form of these two COE lorry photos.

What do you think?

Regards, Holger.

Little remains of trucks that belonged to the 218th infantry divisions. Photographed 13th December 1944 on the island of Saaremaa in Estonia.
Can anybody tell what brand of truck is in the picture?

Always go with your instincts and in this case I failed.

I agree with Markus but I could not figure out how a Bedford would end up on an island in Estonia almost at the end of the war.

Yes, this picture has captured the 13th December 1944, however, there were battles in the sixth October 1944.
I would add the card, which can determine the location. The photograph was taken in Karja mansion, which was also the 218th Infantry Division headquarters at the time.

That's easy Bill, we left it in France and the Germans drove it to Esytonia It is no wonder that the Soviets didn't trust the "West" when you consider how many British trucks the Germans had in Barbarossa ! :D :D :D :D :D :D :D

This is a well known picture from the IWM. The only caption I've seen identifies the location as Chartrestaken in 1944 and referes to an American medic giving aid to a German officer beside his shot out car. Does anyone know what kind of car this is. I notice that the officers hat has a Luftwaffe badge.
Thanks
Willi

Hi Willi:

Your car should be a Peugot 202 like this one.

Hi Sturm:

A most interesting photo and I wonder if it will be easy or quite hard. I have spent an hour on it and come up with nothing concrete.

To my eyes, it seems to be RHD and if so that is a major tip.
Also critical to the right answer is the type of wheel and type of tyres which are a bit unusual.
I cannot make it out for sure but there is also the possibility that the round object next to the driver's leg may be the mounting bracket for a spare wheel and tyre..

Was there any other information contained in the ebay listing that might help, for example where was the photo taken??

Thanks for identification. Not a typical British-like truck. :)

Best regards, Aleks
