Re: Vehicle identity requests
Hi Uncle/Markus:
No question it is a Ford AA, and I assume from Ford Cologne.
I am curious to know if anyone has any more details/information on this particular truck.
The wheels are not something I have seen before, nor the tyres which are very worn.
The body seems civilian, coach built, but with very nice cammo paint on the canvas work.
The photo would seem to date from the very early days of the Third Reich and I wonder if it was possibly intended for military use but with civilian registration. Just curious, as always.

Re: Vehicle identity requests
Many thanks to uncle, Bill and Dirk for setting me straight on the Audi 920. Funny but I had the following pics of this beautiful Glaser cab in my Audi file all the while and didn't look there !
Cheers,
Max

Re: Vehicle identity requests
Hi Victor, hi Bill,
to the wheels of this Ford. I could find these wheels and the axle of this vehicle under the following site (http://aafords.com/aa-chassis/aa-4000-rear-axle/) : produced from 1927 - 1929. So this truck was assembled in Berlin (from 1928), not in Cologne, because the first truck produced in Cologne, also an AA-type, left the factory 4 May 1931. (source of this information: "Fordlastwagen in Deutschland - Die Nutzfahrzeugchronik" by Wolfgang Westerwelle).
And another comment: the photo don´t have to date from the very early days of the Third Reich, because the Nazis were active some years before 1933.
And I´m rather sure that this vehicle was not intended for military use before 1933.
Best regards and a happy New Year 2017
Bert

Re: Vehicle identity requests
Hi guys,
I have to admit in that Ford the most surprising for me was the lack of the front bumper which in fact wasn't decorative element or pure safety devise but the frontmost chassis crossmember on A and AA models. Now on the second picture I see there isn't rear crossmember too! What forces kept the chassis from disintegration then?
Happy new year to all!

The Laffly is Right Hand Drive. Was this normal for French military vehicles at that time?
Re: Vehicle identity requests
Тhank you friends! Нappy New Year 2017!
Re: Vehicle identity requests
I don't know how correct would be to describe such situation as "normal" but back then the French vehicles were a mix of LHD and RHD, not in the Army only.Tomg44 wrote:The Laffly is Right Hand Drive. Was this normal for French military vehicles at that time?

Happy New Year to all!
I think this may be a Mercedes, possibly 320? Probably wrong and it is Horch! What do you make of it? Factory Kubel or umbau? I cannot remember seeing it's like before, which usually means it is a simple id.
Many thanks,
Kerry

Re: Vehicle identity requests
I'd say 1937-39 German Ford V8-51 with 1937 US V8 grille.
