Vehicle identity requests
Re: Vehicle identity requests
Hello again ilfil,
I think you have nailed it with the middle photo. Notice that many, if not all, features match, door detail, roof, windows, wheels etc. If it is not from the same coach builder then it is to the same design.
The registration for your is from Leicester, I just wonder how one came to be with the 100th Jager Division in Russia. Perhaps impounded to go with the BEF, then captured and kept in working order for over 2 years? Hard years too I would imagine. As with many of these photos, you answer one question which just makes two more to be answered.
Thanks again,
Kerry.

Re: Vehicle identity requests
No idea. I assume it's some sort of signals vehicle since it's posed with an antenna mast in the background. Very interesting vehicle though.
Cheers,

Re: Vehicle identity requests
Hello,
this "beute" beast?
Superstructure reminds me a WW1 era Austin. The chassis (or wheels only?) something like a GAZ-AA or original Ford...
The vents in front and fenders dont look much "Soviet " ... Baltic states? Photo from eBay.de

Hi Sturm,
Thanks. Re the Kfz. 72: IMO the sharp corner of the bonnet and the bumper design indicate Krupp rather than Henschel.

Hello,
this woody. My guess it is a 1940 Ford, but the wheels dont look stock to me-"too much tire", more like a British wheels used on WOC1? But LHD and the panels look like in a wood colors?

Re: Vehicle identity requests
Hi ilfil,
Unfortunately for the identification I do not believe the photo is reversed. Note the breast eagle, iron cross ribbon and ribbon bar on the lieutenant in the middle.
Although the front wing does not seem to show the characteristic moulding, it could be a Ford C11AD station wagon.
Cheers,
Kerry.
