Anyone have ideas on this tanker or its function?

Hi Max,
What I see on your picture looks like burned out Albion AM463 350gal RAF refueller.
Cheers!

I have a couple of intriguing shots of SS vehicles making their was to France via the Ardenne one a Mercedes truck (SS 2841) driving off a pontoon bridge and another of a Horsch 901?? (SS 2951) I think, stopped by a very deserted looking French customs post. There were other eBay shots well out of my price range where the group of SS men were wearing scarfs covering the lower part of their faces - like bandits in a western. There was also a motorbike (SS 2841)

Can you confirm the Horch 901 please anyone? And any knowledge about this group - I suspect they may have been Austrians.

Hi Stanford,
Interesting pics. I do not think SS-2951 is a Horch. It looks more like it could be a Mercedes-Benz 320 WK, though I'm not sure about that box on the back. However, The PKW under the tree in the other pic does looks like it could be a Horch 901.

Thank you very much Max, you are very probably right. The triangular tank? Chock behind the spare wheel looks to be the same. I wasn't sure at all about the box on the back either. I'm hoping that the image is poor because it was printed on that ghastly photographic paper the texture of sandpaper if so I think I can improve on this eBay scan.

I wish I knew who this SS group were... Thanks again
