Turan
Yes, they seem to be Hungarian tanks called Turan. Mod 1 had 40mm gun and mod2 75mm gun. The first pic could be mod 1, but I`m not sure.

Re: Hungarian tanks?
I think all is Turan II.
Look at the tower top.

You decide.
Either Turan III was just I and IIs with schurzen or had L/43 7,5cm gun. Or maybe both!!

Hi Aufklarung,
I am thinking about the "real" Turan III, the tank designed with 75mm gun! I know a few Turan Is and IIs were fitted skirt armor plates and other gimicks, and sometimes were called Turan IIIs. But I am curious about whether the L/43 75mm gun Turan III version was actually produced/converted and how many of them were produced/converted. Judging from the pictures on Marcus's site, the really Turan III had a very different turret profile than either Turan I or II, perhaps to accomodate the larger gun and to be attributed to thicker armors.
Here's the relevant part of the article THE HUNGARIAN TURAN TANK AND ITS VARIATIONS by J.C.M. Probst From the January 1977 issue of AFV NEWS
There entire article can be read here, it has some details on both Turan I and II.In April 1943 it was decided that a modern tank needed a 75mm long anti-tank gun. MÁVAG developed a special Hungarian version of the German 7.5cm KwK 40 tank gun which fired both standard German and special Hungarian ammunition. This gun, which allegedly differed considerably from the German model, became the 75mm 43M tank gun. Plans were drawn up so all Turán tanks could be modernized on the following points from mid-1944 onwards: retrofit with a 75mm 43M gun; additional armor to be fitted; skirt plates to be fitted; and work on a prototype vehicle was to be initiated. In the winter of 1943/44 the prototype was completed as the 43M Turán II heavy tank, and was called the 43M Turán 75 hasszú (long) heavy tank from early 1944. It mounted the 75mm 43M gun in a modified turret and had thicker armor, but was otherwise similar to Turán I and II. It carried 32 rounds of ammunition.
Production of the Turán III or modification of existing Turán tanks was not initiated for political and military reasons, and Hungarian AFV production came to almost a complete halt follow-ing German occupation on March 19, 1944. The modification plan however, explains the continued Turán I production into 1944. The only Turán III modification actually undertaken was the fitting of skirt plates over the suspension and around the turrets of some Turán I and II in the second half of 1944. This gave the Turáns an appearance very similar to the late German Pz.III tanks with skirt plates.

I wrote it earlier here:Orok wrote:About Turan III, were they actually manufactured and equipped to the troops? My understanding is that only prototype vehicles were made. Is that correct?

This question is for Milan and Csaba:
I would like to know what specific model the Hungarian T-38 (German PzKpfw 38(t)) is. I read in one source that they are Ausf D. But I am not sure.
I did a thorough research in the forum and came up with this great thread

But it did not answer my question.
Can you help me?
Thanks a lot!
