Sitkrieg is right, it is a Danish FP6 armoured car. The only information I have been able to find is that it was a modified Landsverk L185 4x4 with a Danish 20mm Madsden cannon. Only one was purchased in 1934. As, unlike any other occupied nation, the Germans allowed the Danish army to continue to exist and keep its equipment until August 1943 I would say this photo is taken in 1944 or 1945, perhaps at a parade surrendering to the allies. But that is guesswork. Either way an amazing shot of a unique vehicle!

Here from the same unit, but now with a PzKpfw I. So I assume that they were taken by an Panzer Division. On the first two pictures serving with the motorised Infantry and on this picture with a staff unit. The German Balkankreuz is cleary visible.

Bedford MWD15cwt and column of Bedford OXD/OYD

Post by Franzl Rider » 31 Mar 2007 13:39

Here a picture of an ex-British Bedford MWD15cwt and a column of Bedford OXD/OYD, immediately pressed into service with a German unit in France 1940. Altough often believed, the German army still had for the greater part to rely on feet, bycicles and horses. Only the first-line units were fully motorised, the rest had to improvise with confiscated or captured vehicles. From ebay

Sure looks like it. I dont think the Swedes used them and Denmark appears to be the only foreign buyer (http://www.landskronakultur.se/landsver ... /l185.html)

Compare with a shot of the vehicle in Danish service.

Does anyone have any other information about this phote, posted previously here:

Image

I think the vehicles are, from front to rear:

- Ford V8
- Landsverk L-185, Danish Army FP6
- SdKfz 261 (due to the shape of the opened roof seen over the second soliders head)
- Mercedes typ 170V (very much a guess, but the double windshield and the pronounced "peak" in the roof as well as the shape of the fender seems to fit)

What about the antenna on the side of FP6? Doesn't seem to be on the vehicle while in Danish service, so probably a German addition. Looks kinda odd though? Anyone seen a similar antenna mount on anything German?

Geschützwagen auf Fahrgestell leichter PzKpfw Mk VI 736(e)

Post by Franzl Rider » 25 Apr 2007 21:26

Very nice Francy. Here something special currently on ebay under the link

http://cgi.ebay.de/Originalfoto-WKII-Be ... dZViewItem

It's 2 pictures of "Geschützwagen auf Fahrgestell leichter PzKpfw Mk VI 736(e)" or to put it blunt: Becker's conversion of a 105mm Feldhaubitze 16 on a captured British Mark IV. The pictures are placed in USSR in 1941.
