Hello everyone.
I have a question, how much can a rolls cost from individuals?
We need such documents-
T 314 XXVIII.AK
Roll 788
Roll 792 Item No: (Item_25175 / 7)
Roll 793 Item No: (Item_25175 / 11)
Roll 795 Item No: (Item_33354 / 7) (Item_33354 / 8)
Roll 798 Item No: (Item_39242 / 10) (Item_39242 / 11)
I Armeekorps (I corps)
T 314 Roll 47 Item No: (Item_21941 / 39) (Item_21941 / 40)
Roll 53 Item No: (Item_25128 / 34)
Roll 64 Item No: (Item_46472 / 30)
And also some documents Armeeoberkommando 18 (Eighteenth Army) and T-175 R-233-236 SD Einsatzkommandos.
I have downloaded some of these documents freely.
Some I can't find.
But the ones I downloaded are free and of average quality. (Thanks a lot to the people who post them for everyone on the Internet !!!)
I don't know German at all, so I rely entirely on programs that scan text from an image.
And there are often problems with translation, since the image "weighs" less than 600kb and sometimes even 300kb.
For the program to work correctly, it is desirable not less than 1MB.
I have no idea about the cost of 1 rolls.
I need to understand, or "break" my eyes with the brain further to myself, or buy gradually by 1 document.
Thank!

A single roll costs $135 when bought straight from NARA. Reseller may propose a cheaper price if they have the roll on their catalog already, or if they can go to NARA and make their own scan.

Could you be more specific about the scanning tool you use? I haven't checked for a few years, and when I did I realized many documents were of too low quality for OCR whatever the image resolution. But technology may have evolved.

Personalakten

Post by askropp » 28 Jan 2021, 18:54

Dear fellow members,

I assume many of you have noticed that I am in the process of posting short bios of Heer officers on the ABR forum, based mainly on Karteikarten from T-78. With the help of several different members, I have recently gained access to some of the rare Personalakten from A-3356. There were even people I didn't know before who sent me files I never asked for, and of course I am very thankful for their support and generosity.

As I learned from this thread that there are still more Personalakten around, although only a fraction of the total number at NARA, allow me to ask if there are other members who would be willing to share additional rolls with me for the aforementioned task. Any material will only be used for the short bios and will not be forwarded to third parties without the consent of the original donator. In order to remain anonymous, you can approach me via private message.

Best regards,
askropp (Co-Host of ABR)

You may want to post a list of what you have already, it should help spot what will be new to you.
