John,

Can't you find the decency to answer my e-mails? You have blocked me from access to the FTP area for something I have no part in. But this did not prevent you from adding material to the same FTP area which originate from me and me only.
This isn't correct John.
First of all, you have blocked me because I had too many attempted connections while I was trying to download something during the night. We had this problem before and then you admitted this is a technical problem from your side. Not mine, I have nothing to do with it.
But still, you have not only blocked me, but are ignoring me as well.
And then you have my full attention!
If I have done something wrong, and you block me, I can let it go. I was wrong, you "punished" me. Live with it.
But this is not the case. You blocked me for no good reason and do not have the guts to respond.
Be a grown man and reply. Especially because you are using unique material from me without my permission. And there is a word for that I believe.

I think that there really is a technical problem, because for 2 weeks I can't get to server (or blocked IP or too much already logged-in). Most likely there are too many eager historians wanting to download.

Just my 2 cents.

Klemen,

That is exactly my point. But instead of blocking people like he is doing right now, he should first get his act together and solve the technical issues.
Instead, he sent me this e-mail:
Piet:

On 21-Aug-15, between 7:47PM and 10:31PM, your IP attempted to login over 1100 times. Your IP will not be unblocked again.

John

I was asleep, and my settings are exactly as he wants it. I sent him several e-mails, but unlike before, he is not answering them. I also wrote on his blog but no answer there too. That's weird. I am getting replies from other people who have faced the same issues and are getting sick of his attitude on the matter.
So, John, if you are reading this: first of all, I still do appreciate what you have done with the FTP. I really do. But, if you can't handle critisism of any kind or can't solve the technical issues with your firewall (which is causing the trouble), consider fixing the problems or simply stop with the FTP.

I find it very disturbing that you don't reply to my messages but have no problems with using my material.

You're probably blocked if you can't get in at all. I wasn't sure about this until I discovered everything worked when I was away from home and thus using a different IP address. At home I haven't had access for about one month now.
Even with the right settings it was quite likely you get 'too many' connection when you download a folder, just because the server seems overloaded and the connections had to be reestablished continuously.

It's a shame because I really do appreciate the availability of the files very much, but it is difficult (and quite slow) to get the few folders I'm interested in.

Thanks for sharing materials but FTP didn't worked for me. My IP was banned after not even downloading, but just trying to download one single JPG file.

Hi:

If you are having trouble logging on please send me your external IP address and the exact error message. If the message says the maximum allowed connections for FTP-User-1 then it it means the server can not handle any more connections. If the message says maximum allowed connections for (then your IP address) you are attempting more than one connection.

John

John, care to reply to me too?

John, it occurs to me that you are both a thief and a coward. A thief by using material without permission and a coward for not replying when confronted with your actions. Don't worry, I will spread this message through every forum and other media so everybody will know who you really are.
I am getting so many reactions from people who have done "business" with you and got insulted, well it seems you are digging a very deep hole for yourself.

Too bad, and I can't say that enough, because you started a very nice thing. Too bad your greed or whatever it was got in the way.

Hallo all,
When I read some of the comments I feel very bad. How can someone write that John is a thief and a coward, when he takes the time to offer us great information for free. In other places you have to pay a lot of money for it. Before you start spreading some information in other places in the net, have a look at your behavior. Somebody forgot to teach you how to treat people or you didn't listen at all. If I would be in John's position I would block your IP for ever after all these insults.
When I had a problem a few days ago, John gave me the right answer after looking into my log in data. The problem was on my site, not on John's.
I'm sure he got also other things to do in than waiting all day to answer our questions.
It took me some to think about to write a few lines, but I'm thankful to get all these information from John. I never had a chance to go to the archive to get it myself.
Thanks again John.

Radar,
I am not someone. I am Piet Duits, and I stand by my words.
I had the same feeling once too. But, does he have material you have scanned yourself using a Primefilm 500? Does he use the material you have scanned yourself without your permission, even after you have informed him about that? And also, he did reply to you. Nice. Why doesn't he reply to me? Because I confronted him with what he is doing. He blocked me for a technical issue on his side. Okay, but then have the guts to admit that. And what does he do? He ignores me, like he ignores others who have something to say about him too. And that, dear Radar, I call a coward.

Yes, I am using strong words. But if he only has the guts to respond, I am willing to take back these words. Not to get back to his FTP, no, let him have his fun. You see, I don't need his FTP. It was fun to see so many sources together, but if I want, I have other sources with better quality too. No problem.
It's about his attitude and his actions. If you do something, also be able to stand your ground when confronted. And that's exactly what he's not doing.

I'm new here and I feel sad there is misunderstanding between some guys here. Myself I have nothing to offer in exchange except of of saying "Big Thanks". Even FTP didn't work for me, but I believe it's quite a challenge to keep it up and running 24/7
