Re: NARA rolls made digital
Hello,
I'm looking for some frames from the roll T-314 R-1604, specifically frame 1354 (although the whole roll will be even better or frames from 654 to 1360), as in the copy available at the J.C. Calvin's FTP many frames are either missing or corrupted. Thanks in advance!

Re: NARA rolls made digital
I'm currently looking for as many A3356 and A3343 (SSEM) rolls as possible. If anyone has some of these in digital form and would be willing to share I would be most appreciative.
Re: NARA rolls made digital
Hello! I'm looking for these rolls: T-78 R-616, T-314 R-1493, unfortunately I have no way to buy them, can anyone have one for free? Thanks!

Re: NARA rolls made digital
Hello,
Does anyone have T-311 R-169 and T-311 R-171?
Thank you to everyone who makes these documents available
John.
Both are available on John Calvin's ftp server, I have only looked at T-78 R-616 which is low resolution.
Does anyone have T-311 R-169 and T-311 R-171?
Thank you to everyone who makes these documents available
John.

Hello! Sorry for immodesty, please tell me you do not have free rolls: T-78 R-616, T-314 R-1493? Thanks!Mori wrote: ↑08 Jun 2016, 13:57Hello all,
I have compiled a list of all the NARA rolls I have seen made digital. I see this as a complement to the searching aid at sturmpanzer.com (http://sturmpanzer.com/research/tools/nara_index.aspx).
This list includes all the rolls someone has a copy of. If you spot a roll on this list, you have a good chance to get it by asking around on forums such as this one or by checking catalogs of resellers. It will save you time and money vs. ordering it anew at NARA.
There are more than 4000 rolls and I don't have a copy of all that myself, so I can't garantee data are all accurate. Some material may be mislabelled. Some rolls may be incomplete. Yet I believe the list to be more than 98% correct, and that there are fewer than 100 incomplete rolls.
Also, I could not upload an attachment under txt or xls format, so the list is just copied/pasted in the post below.
Sincerely, Marina.

Re: NARA rolls made digital (updated end 2019)
I have updated the list of rolls made digital. It's here.
What's new?
=> about 93 new entries (+1,5%) vs. 6 months ago.
=> for the full year, that makes ca. 240 new rolls, same pace as previous years. We are on a continuous trend here.
=> Per my count, more than 92% of the rolls are available if you ask around. The remaining 8% of rolls are only available for a fee or are held by people who are still shy of sharing.
From what I see and the people I am in contact with, 2019 brought ca. 220 new rolls to the common pool. Again, same as 2018. That's more or less USD 30 000 of value available to anyone. An excellent case of how much cooperation is beneficial to everyone.
And a story.
I had the strangest experience a few month ago on a French-Belgium forum dedicated to WW2. Contributors were terribly upset to learn that so many NARA rolls were available for free. Some people, who obviously never had a look at non-French speaking sites, were extremely proud of their collection . They really thought they had accumulated a gold treasure: 'I have 3Tb of data with 2,000 rolls, each one being sold $135 at NARA. My hard drives are worth $270,000. Oh no! don't tell me one can get it all for free!!'
The moderation team was sympathetic to their complains and reacted by banning all discussion on free archives: any post with "archives" and "free" in it would immediately be removed. This immediately extended to links to sites hosting free documents, even the most official: they also erased links to Ultra intercepts at TNA, to germandocsinrussia.org, to Canadian documents on Heritage, etc.
This was really weird, and one of the most absurd reaction I have ever witnessed: a definitive will to stay locked in their fishbowl without accepting there could be sea.

It went to spam at first. But if you don't find it there, I'll look for another hosting site.
