Germandocsinrussia offline/ inactive?

#1

Post by Piet Duits » 18 May 2017, 21:00

Hi all,

Anyone noticed that for the last 2 days, the Germandocsinrussia website is offline / inactive?
I hope they are finally updating the site with all the new stuff they added to the Aktentitel (Luftwaffe, Kriegsmarine, many MANY Korps-material, et cetera).

It is back online since yesterday. According to a member of the staff, updates are expected in a couple of weeks.

I wonder if the project has somekind of financial or political difficulties. Almost of one year there has been no significant updates. Considering the slow pace I doubt that the announced ending date of the project 2018 is realistic.

Small chance they will make it on time.
The titles alone make me drool... Want it, need it, must have it :-)

I can only wonder what they have on the units destroyed during Bagration. For example, the 78. Sturmdivision.

I have got a significant chunck of material from CAMO through private trade, so I believe the digitalization project has been going on at a steady pace, except they don't put things online anymore.

Although I'm not too sure, i think they now sell some of the material to researcher. Not certain about that, really: it could be a third party trying to make money independantly of the official organization.

Also, as you must have noticed, many of the documents are also available at NARA and BAMA.

Is there a for-sale index of material available ? I go to the website now and then but it is unclear what is new.

Tom,

There's nothing new for quite some time now. However, they are uploading things but haven't made them available yet.
