BAMA Personalakten

Post by Mori » 20 Mar 2019 22:15

Hello all,

This might be a simple question, but I'm lost.

Where in the Bundesarchiv can I find the Personalakten? For example, I see general Balck is under PERS 6/73, but I can't find any "PERS 6" entry in Invenio, the German archives search engine.

Therefore I am at a loss identifying how/where to look at the files. And since documents can be in Freiburg, Berlin or other sites, I have to know which site to travel to...

Thanks.

Hi Mori, i think that reference is either wrong/old or not available to the public, his files can be found under Nachlässe und Sammlungen / Nachlässe / B / N 647 Balck, Hermann, all of them can be found in Freiburg.

Hello Mori,

You can request and view PERS 6 files at Freiburg, after you provide a name, birth date and death date. However, they come with a red slip, so cannot be photographed.

Cheers,

Thanks Mihai and Andy. I also emailed BAMA-Freiburg but did not receive a reply. I will try my luck next time I'm in Freiburg, I guess.

I'm now preparing this trip: is there a full catalog of the PERS 6 series...?

Hi Mori,

Yes, you can find the different PERS 6 files ia BArch-MA's digital database, Invenio.

Go to: Norddeutscher Bund und Deutsches Reich => Militär => Reichswehr und Wehrmacht => Zentrale Einrichtungen der Reichswehr und Wehrmacht => Weitere nachgeordnete Einrichtungen => PERS 6 Personalunterlagen von Angehörigen der Reichswehr und Wehrmacht.

Hope you are able to find it ;-)

Cheers,
Seán

Thanks, that's just perfect.

I navigated Invenio but just did not see this entry, because it's located below RW series. I was expecting "PERS" would be displayed before "RW"...

I've just had a look. Gosh, it's 2162 pages of catalog and it seems randomly sorted!

Re: BAMA Personalakten - PERS 6 inventory

Post by Mori » 14 Jul 2019 11:09

I have made myself an inventory of PERS 6, since none exists and Invenio is not user friendly for this collection. The numbering is actually by rank, then by alphabetical order. Besides, at the very bottom of the series they inserted name cards from the T78 R884+ rolls, so that most generals have a secondary entry in the 20,000 range (I did not bother with these).

My file is for download here.

Just the top 400 generals, ie all the "General d. xxx" and above.
