Panzerartillerie Combat Reports

#1

Post by Tom from Cornwall » 22 Dec 2021, 14:09

Hi,

I've been reading Thomas Anderson's Panzerartillerie: Firepower for the Panzer Divisions and he quotes extensively from several German combat reports and consolidated lessons learned documents but without providing any detailed source references. I'm hoping that someone on here might be able to help point me to the source documents.

1. A January 1944 summary by the General der Artillerie containing extracts of unit combat reports from both east and Italian fronts.

2. A November 1943 report by the Waffenamt of a tour of front-line units in Italy in September 1943.

3. A report by the hPzOffz of OB Süd of 1 September 1943 reporting complaints from subordinate units about the leFH Wespe's poor mechanical performance which made it unsuitable for use in Italy.

Any help gratefully received.

Regards

Tom

I'm wondering whether they might be in T78 R203? If anyone has that, I'd be grateful if you could take a look and check for me. Thanks in advance.

I think I might have found a Bundesarchiv reference for the January 1944 report as it was used in a video on the Hummel on the Military History Visualised channel here:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=78Yq08ZbFMA
BArch, RH 8/1680: Erfahrungsbericht der II. Abt. Art.Rgt. 63 über s.F.H. 18/1 (Sfl.) "Hummel" Januar, 1944.
Strangely, though, I can't find that reference on the on-line search tool which is frustrating. I'm wondering if that is the same as the documents in T78 R203.

Regards

Tom
