I was unable to find a thread for this subject using the SEARCH function, although I know one exists.

If any researchers are interested in the history of this program that was run by the U.S. Army Europe (USAEUR) and produced some 2,250 studies, here is an article about it:

Wood, James A. "Captive Historians, Captivated Audience: The German Military History Program, 1945-1961." in: Journal of Military History, No. 69, 1/2005, pp.123-47.

On the views of the German officers involved there is an article by Bernd Wegner:

"Erschriebene Siege: Franz Halder, die "Historical Division" und die Rekonstruktion des Zweiten Weltkrieges im Geiste des deutschen Generalstabes."

In: Politischer Wandel, organisierte Gewalt und nationale Sicherheit. Beiträge zur neueren Geschichte Deutschlands und Frankreichs. Festschrift für Klaus-Jürgen Müller. Hrsg. von Ernst-Willi Hansen, Gerhard Schreiber und Bernd Wegner. München : Oldenbourg 1995, S. 287 - 302.
