Qu. reg. US Natl. Archives, Copyrights, and Nazi-era photos

Hello!

I wonder, are photographs of Nazi officials that the US Natl. archives posess considered in the "general domain" (i.e. they can be used for non-profit purposes?) I would like to travel to the archives here and in D.C. and try to dig up some photos of "lesser known" Nazis, so that I can add those photos to Wikipedia. I wonder if I would have a hard time doing this?

Also, can those who have actually been to the archives offer any advice for my situation?

Thanks!
Cory

Cory, I think the most trouble you're going to have is finding the photos you want.

You should be good to go on using them, but proper citation is still in order.

I picked up some photos at the US Army War College at Carlisle Barracks. All they asked me to do, besides pay for them, was to reference the War College as the source of the photos.
