The modified Re2001 fighters I'm asking about were to fly from the proposed Italian A/C Aquila. Does anyone what the modifications were/

re navalised Re2001
Andy - the only references I find in my library refer to 2 aircraft only being equipped with arrestor-hooks for intended trials aboard the carriers Aquila and Sparviero (which were being converted from merchantment at the time of the armistice). No mention of any airframe stiffening or landing-gear modifications, etc. Anyway, the inference is that the proposed trials never took place. Hope this meagre info helps.
PS. I rather like the Re2000, and I think one with the colourful Hungarian paint scheme would make a nice model.

Re: Modified Re2001 fighters
I think you're referring to the Re.2001 OR Serie II, as that variant featured wing-mounted machine guns and an optional cannon, as well as the ability to carry a 600 kg torpedo or bomb as standard.
