Re: Messerschmitt Me 262 request
The designation suffix of 'C-1b (b means the BMW 003 was involved) is indeed the BMW+rocket motor version.
The Smith and Creek four volume work on the Me262 includes photos of the machine and engines involved.
Further, the previous list of types includes a '262A-1b, which is nothing more than a standard late pattern '262A-1a with BMW003 engines, the added features listed would also apply to the 'A-1a of the time.
In general, on-line data tends to be added by entheusiatic amatuers, without text or data editors looking over their shoulders, so all kinds of errors, omissions, or even wishful thinking gets posted. So be fairly sceptical about the quality of data on the web.

Do you mean kind of like the fact you are an online net user; otherwise unknown to any of the rest of us and possibly even less qualified to discuss any particular subject?sagallacci wrote:In general, on-line data tends to be added by entheusiatic amatuers, without text or data editors looking over their shoulders, so all kinds of errors, omissions, or even wishful thinking gets posted. No, he's talking about sites like http:www.xs4all.nl/~fbonne/warbirds/ww2htmls/messme262.html that are after all ONLY a confection of various paper sources transcribed onto the Net, and at worst are all these PLUS no mistakes in transcription corrected, or long-standing factual errors identified SINCE those paper sources were written corrected, etc., etc....and in the main absolutely no sources footnoted/attributed.Do you mean kind of like the fact you are an online net user; otherwise unknown to any of the rest of us and possibly even less qualified to discuss any particular subject?
Such as the example concerned. Where for instance did the site creator GET all that data???

Right on, regardless of the lack of intelligence in the common net user the ME262 is my favorite flying device of all time

Re: Messerschmitt Me 262 request
yes but since this thread is noted towards the Me 262, perhaps your favorite plane should have been posted herehttp://forum.axishistory.com/viewtopic. ... rite+planeSteved400 wrote:Right on, regardless of the lack of intelligence in the common net user the ME262 is my favorite flying device of all time
as being your favorite does not make it any better or any worse an aircraft nor adds anything to this discussion

Well I’ll disagree with that; since it is my favorite plane I find great interest in any technical or informational gathering discussions on the subject.

a nice interview regarding technical issues and problems with the 262 along with flying aspects can be read in the following interview of a surviving Luftwaffe pilot of White 3http://109lair.hobbyvista.com/articles/ ... tigler.htmSteved400 wrote:Well I’ll disagree with that; since it is my favorite plane I find great interest in any technical or informational gathering discussions on the subject.
"Franz Stigler’s Me262. For decades it was thought that this was the personal aircraft of General Galland. To the contrary, Galland never set foot in White 3. Rumours began when a pic was taken of him outside of White 3"

I can't thank you enough for that link; I LOVE stuff like this. The original panel on the wall for the General's plane is over the top with me; what a thrill that would be to see in real life!
Thank you!

Re: Messerschmitt Me 262 request
Hello,
I'm looking for photos of Me262 B1a/U1 FE-610 which was captured in Schleswig and alter went to US for evaluation.
I saw some on the web and in the books. I like the one which shows color view from the rear-right side.
Can anyone have a good quality photos of this example after it's capture and in US where it has repainted (again?) national insignia?

Re: Messerschmitt Me 262 request
The book Jet Planes of the Third Reich, Secret Projects: Volume 2 (published in 2004) mentions that the proposed Mistel 4 actually comprised an Me 262 pyloned on the back of an explosive-filled Ju 88, and this is independently confirmed by Dan Sharp's book Messerschmitt Me 262: Development and Politics. There was a proposed Mistel scheme composed of an Me 262 mounted on an explosive-packed Me 262 (see attached Messerschmitt company drawing below), but it wasn't called Mistel 4.Timespanr wrote: ↑28 Sep 2009, 02:04For your Info & possible interest: Types of Me-262s (Basics)

Also, the Me 262A-3 Panzerflugzeug variant with an armored cockpit wasn't the only Me 262 variant designated Me 262A-3. As noted in the book Messerschmitt Me 262: Development and Politics, the Me 262A-2/U2 was originally designated Me 262A-3 when it was initially planned to order this version into production upon deployment of the Me 262A-2.
