Re: Bombs??
Indeed, prossibly supply container, though this is originally a LMA III mine. Both LMA (British denomination "type GD") and LMB ("Type GC")mines were used as air dropped supplies containers, the place of the explosive being taken by the supplies.
Here's a photo of an open LMA transformed in supplies container, dropped at Stalingrad:

Re: Bombs??
I don’t think it’s the nose but tails.
Further more I think the are all the same, just some have an extra bit attached and some don’t. Though no idea why.

Re: Bombs??
Hello to all
; more.........................
Airdrop supply.
Transport organizations could carry out the following missions: troop transport, air supply and air transport (within their own controlled territory). Within air supply, a particular form was to launch supplies into containers (with or without a parachute) as an exceptional and transitory measure for a limited duration. This measure was carried out when there was no adequate terrain or airfield within the area of operations (at the beginning of an airborne operation or to supply an encircled force).
Some disadvantages that arose in this type of operation:
- High consumption of containers, parachutes and packaging means.
- Great time consuming when packing supplies in containers.
- Unfavorable relationship between the weight of supplies and container space.
- Inability to pack irregularly shaped items.
- Reduction of transport capacity due to the extra weight of containers, parachutes, etc.
- Consumption of time and complexity in loading containers.
- Uncertain capacity in the recovery of containers, parachutes, etc.
- Impossibility of evacuating personnel and / or material on return flights.
