I wish there are stories and reports about these German observers who went up in these balloons during WWII. The reports of observers who went up in German observation balloons during WWI,I had read about them in WWI aviation books.

I would say an observation balloon with engine in nacelle and control surfaces at rear.... :?

A balloon type unknown to me. Among its unique characteristics is a propeller, perhaps partly enclosed, attached to the man carrying basket. The rear structures cannot be control surfaces. They are not aerodynamic shapes. But there appears to be a light colored object resting on the horizontal support, or the light and shadow only suggests a shape/object.
