A new book by Robert Forsyth titled Me 163 vs Allied Heavy Bombers Northern Europe 1944–45 will be coming out next year, and it will shed further light on the rate of effectiveness of the Me 163 against USAAF and RAF bombers.

Anything? A rather broad concept. Perhaps a better question would be: The Me 163 as opposed to nothing? I would like to add an observation. The common thinking is that, in isolation, the Me 163 did not achieve a winning result or, put another way, inflict significant losses to the enemy. The fact is that it was one more component to overall German air defense.

After reading the account of the British pilot flying one, building a replica is on my "to do" list after winning the lottery
Yes! On the same list for me as well...though I am leaning towards the latter version with retractable landing gear (though I don't think it looks as cool, LOL)

According to the author of "Rocket Fighter" Mano Ziegler, who was a Me 163 pilot in JG 400, the Me 163 only shot down about 20 some Allied bombers.
The one weapons system that would have made the Me 163 viable, the Jagdfaust rockets, came far too late in the war.
Watching the world burn down around me.

"far too late in the war" If England had been in a similar position, would the soldiers simply stop fighting or continue on with what they had?
