Hi!

I'm looking for information on crews and planes 1./KG28 or 6./KG26, that put the mines in Feodosia 6.09.1941.
If you have books Rudi Schmidt "Achtung Torpedo los!: Der strategische und operative Einsatz des Kampfgeschwader 26" and "Die Spur des Löwen" by Alexander Steenbeck, KTB KG28 or KG26, please see what information is on this date.

With respect, Igor

Igor -

You can cross the Rudi Schmidt book off your list. I have it and he says nothing/nichts about this mission. He allows only half of one page (p.129) for 6. Staffel based in Romania and operating over the Black Sea from September to December 1941. His Verluste des KG 26 appendix shows no losses for this date either. On the other hand, I understand that the Steenbeck book is much more detailed. Unfortunately, I do not have it.

Good luck, Igor, and I hope you will let us know how this turns out.

Steenbeck's book has no answers either. He gives couple of examples for 6./KG 26's work on Black sea, but 6.9.41 not included. Other days described some way: 2 combat missions on 26.8.41 with 1H+AP and 1H+EP, and 2 mission by 1H+AP on 31.8.41, when this plane put LM1000 in Sewastopol's and Novorossiysk' ports. No losses in this time for KG 26

Igor -

Thanks for your follow-up.

The daily reports of IV. Fliegerkorps that cover late September 1941 to late spring 1942 survived the war and can be found in the Ic Anlagen of AOK 11:

RG 242 (T-312 (AOK 11 Ic Anlagen).
IV.Flg.K. daily reports of operations to AOK 11 in RG 242 (T-312 roll 399ff).

Unfortunately, this just misses the date you are interested in by a few days!

Hi!

Larry D, Igorr, Jeff Leach - Thanks to all for the info!

In Soviet, "the Chronicle of hostilities" date 6.09.41. Is it possible to learn the names of the pilots who took part in the action?

I think that in docs of AOK 11 events described with one day delay. So operaion described on 7/9/41 in reality were on late 6/9/41.

To Igorr:

The operation was conducted at night from 6 to 7.09. Too bad that there is no information of the Soviet monitoring stations for aircraft. I think that the planes returned to the airfield 7.09, so it is written in KTB

Hi!

I found a document in which 20.10.41 in the port of Feodosiya the plane was shot down, maybe He-111. Anyone has information about this case? Something about the plane and crew?

To Igorr:

Very interesting. I have not found in these records information about the downed plane 20.10.41. There may be in Steenbeck''s book?
