Post by James A Pratt III » 09 Nov 2019 23:30

Does anyone have a list of Luftwaffe flak units equipped with 105mm and 128mm flak guns? I know about the flak towers twin 128mms.

I understand some Luftwaffe searchlight units had a number of female personel in them any one which ones and how many?

There is no single source list that I have ever seen that would give you that information all laid out on a couple of sheets of paper. But you might try a website that lists the Flak- and Flakscheinwerfer units and see what you come up with:
www.ww2.dk

Here are some books that would get you started before you would have to start visiting the archives in Freiburg, London and Washington, especially those by Werner Müller:

BUKOWSKI, Helmut. Radarkrieg und Nachtluftverteidigung über Berlin 1939 bis 1945. (Berlin: Aviatik, 2006). 312p. 372 photos. 251 dwgs. Pb. C.Schmidt # 226243. € 39,80. [Recommended. Would be good for Ln.- and Flak units based in the greater Berlin area].
ENGELMANN, Joachim. Geheime Waffenschmiede Peenemünde: V2, Wasserfall, Schmetterling. 2006. 160p. 50 b/w photos. [C.Schmidt #A126026 - 10,95 EUR]. [Comment: most of these rockets covered in the Engelmann books were antiaircraft rockets, a number of which became operational during the last 6 months of the war, so these two books would be pertinent to Flak units].
ENGELMANN, Joachim. Raketen, die den Krieg entscheiden sollten: Taifun, Natter, Kirschkern (V1), Rheinbote (V4), Föhn (V3), u.a. 2006. 160p. 50 b/w photos. . [C.Schmidt #A333439 - 10,95 EUR].
GRIEHL. Das grosse Buch der Flak: Deutsche Luftverteidigung 1912 – 1945. 160 Seiten. 300 Abb. 30,00 Euro. (sounds like a pictorial).
HOLZMANN, Gustav. Der Einsatz der Flakbatterien im Wiener Raum 1940-1945. Eintwicklung, Gliederungen, Ausrüstung, Personal, Einsatzergebnisse, Gefechtstätigkeit Luft & Boden, Batteriestandorte, Statistiken, 80 Seiten. Preis: EUR 9,-
HUMMEL, Karl-Heinz. Die deutsche Flakartillerie 1935 – 1945: Ihre Grossverbände und Regimenter. Zweibrücken: VDMedien (Heinz Nickel), March 2010. Hd. 488p. €29,80 ($33.86 on 6 Feb 19). (for blurb, go to: ).http://vdmedien.com/heinz-nickel-deutsc ... 10352.html
