Anthony Kay's book German Aircraft of the Second World War states that the second Junkers Ju 188 prototype was converted to the Ju 188G, which differed from the Ju 188A and E version in having a tail barbette. Although it is stated in most books that Ju 388L-1 tail empennages were used in construction of the first two Ju 287 prototypes, Junkers documents clearly show that the tail empennages of the Ju 188G prototypes/preproduction planes were used in building Ju 287 V1 and V2. I've therefore attached a couple images of the Ju 188G for convenience.
