BV 222 in North Africa

Post by Brady » 05 Aug 2020 20:25

All I know about these are that were taken in NA, I believe they are from a private collection, and judging by the looks of the BV 222, sans defensive armament , I think were looking at an October - November 41 time frame.

My Guess is that this is Bengasi, but idk ...

Very rare I would say. November is quite possible since the BV-222 was used to ferry emergency supplies to North Africa during this time. First mention I have of a North Africa trip is September 1941 to Tripolis, to act as sea rescue. Could also be Derna?
The enemy had superiority in numbers, his tanks were more heavily armoured, they had larger calibre guns with nearly twice the effective range of ours, and their telescopes were superior. 5 RTR 19/11/41
