NSFK glider ID

Post by norwest » 01 Jul 2021 06:44

I have a lot of NSFK photos, but I have not seen this glider before. Does anybody have a full photo of it and/or information on it?

Regards,
Kevin

My guess is DFS Rhönsperber.

Thanks Seppo. That certainly looks like a close match, from what I can tell.

Thank you also Seppo Koivisto,

I was looking for an early glider by the Horten brothers, and I was completely wrong. :)

Rhönsperber http://www.woodwings.de/rhoensperber.html
The 1:2,5 Modell is simply amazing, perfect!

Hi guys,

Yes, Rhönsperber, but upgraded and untypical. The glider represents very high level of visibility from the cockpit. This specimen has additional organic glass section on the back. Standard Rhönsperbers had wooden section there.

The same goes for entire transparent canopy -- it is made of glass completely and it is not standard. Typical Rhönsperbers had canopies made partially of organic glass and partaially of plywood.
